Pretty weak show. Not because BJ lost.

Diaz-Davis was entertaining but one sided.

Maynard-Florian was horrible. The winner was not really impressive and it just shows how Florian gets in these big fights and adjusts his game in total fear of his opponents strengths. He did it against Penn and he did it again tonight against Maynard. He abandoned his striking style to to pretty much be ready for a takedown. I don't like that. If you adjust your game completely to suit your opponent, then you arent giving out your best fight and you don't believe in your best fight. That is why Kenny Florian has and always will be the Buffalo Bills of the LW division...he'll win enough fights against the Guida's, Stevenson's, Gomi's of the world because he's better than average but he's in between the middle of the pack and a true contender...and my friends, that is what we call...a gatekeeper.

All Maynard did was land some takedown, did nothing, and this is likely your next world champion because the system is so flawed and biased towards wrestlers that a takedown is worth more than anything...no matter what that guy does not do or even though the guard is considered an advantage position in BJJ. I've made a thread on this before. If a fighter is beating down on somebody from his guard, then he is winning..but if all he's doing is fighting off submissions or just laying on top hoping for a stand up he's clearly not in advantageous position and these judges need to start noticing the difference between Fedor-Kohsaka II or Fedor-Nog and a Kurt Pellegrino fight and start scoring the grappling game fairly ...to be continued.

Maia-Miranda was a fight Maia should have ended in round 1 but we just had to watch 15 minutes of Maia run a position clinic on somebody who had no business being in the cage with him, or on the main card of a UFC PPV.

Couture-Toney sucked.

Edgar-Penn settled the whole thing but the fight itself was nothing to write home about. Nothing i'll go back and watch. The result says everything. I just hope Edgar can be as squirmy and hard to keep down against herpesyphilitis boy and keep his belt. I hope BJ get motivated again but i have my doubt seeing how he came into tonights fight. If Abu Dhabi didnt really motivate him i don't really know what will. Let's face it...Penn is from a wealthy family, he has made millions in MMA, he has proven to be one of the best of all time or atleast one of the most talented of all time, he's already wrote a book...i don't know if he cares anymore.

It was kinda like jerking off and not cumming. Yeah it is entertaining for a bit, but since the white tadpoles aren't leaving the magic bag, what's the point?

5.0.
Maynard and Penn are done and Florian is no longer champion material.
We all knew Randy would win it as soon as it hit the ground.
Joe Lauzon and Nate Diaz looked impressive.

I'd almost rather watch Fitch fight than Maynard. That was fucking painful. Suffice it to say that Edgar-Maynard will be stuck as the co-main with another big fight because that won't sell dick

I can still see Marcus Davis weeding out the non-hackers in the UFC Welterweight division...if he can still do that, he's still Marcus Davis and he's not done. All WW that are coming off a loss and are up for review in the UFC should be placed infront of Marcus Davis and Davis will usually put them on the unemployment line like he did a couple months ago against Goulet. As long as he can do that he still has his place in the UFC.

Perhaps Diaz' reach was the problem.Davis made no attempt to close the distance and take away Nate's distance. That's how I saw it.

Diaz reach was a problem. As well as Diaz just being a much more talented fighter than Davis...Marcus was at a disadvantage standing and takedowns are a big part of Davis's game and it was not really an option tonight. Horrible matchup. I got what we expected from Davis..he fought his ass off and never gave up.

Davis has a lot of problems with tall guys. Saunders, Swick, Hardy and now Diaz. As long as they don't use him as a feeder for somebody like Alves and keep him in mid level fights as a stepping stone or pink slip for mid level WW because then they would be using him in spots where they know he can't succeed and his opponent would not really gain anything from beating him.

This is good win for Diaz at WW. Huge step up from Markham but he looked a lot better against Markham.

Diaz's stand up is terrible he gets away with it because of his long reach.

The brothers have been harping on that fight for months now...it's a toned down version of Diaz-Noons only Maynard did not brutalize Nate in their fight.

Maynard better learn some submissions because Diaz is good enough with his ground game to get back on his feet, and if it stays standing,Nate will carve him up.
