Heck, Fernando Guererro, a darn prospect, has a bigger fanbase than alot of guys who HBO will show. He has fought and got people in Salisbury, Md, to come out and support him. Salisbury, MD, 30 mins from Ocean City, Md, not exactly a boxing mecca.

His team does a good job as every time he fights there they promote the darn fight. You see it in local papers, local tv, etc... Most of the time it is for FNF that his fights occur there, but not always.

All this kind of stuff makes me look at the Virgil Hill approach in a new light. He built a fan base in Bismarck, sold out in front of 8000 fans every time for 20-25 fights, fought good guys there and made decent paydays.

I agree Marble,
but,

if Bute (or any European-based fighter for that matter) does that they get ripped to shreds for"not leaving their backyard"

I think that's great. I think Froch fighting in Nottingham and Ward fighting in Oakland etc is GOOD for the sport. Not everything oughtta be in the gaming locales.

Bradley seems to have lost his way since he moved to HBO, it's all about money for him now.

Bradley seemed much more humble when he was beating Witter, Cherry, Holt, Campbell, and Peterson, on Showtime.

His tone really changed alot after the Peterson win.

Yeah I think that's unfair if they are fighting top guys.

The same with Chad Dawson, there is something about HBO that corrupts the souls of young American fighters.

HBO takes guys who were making a good living boxing, and then starts paying them way too much.
