I know this has probably already been posted, but what are everyone's thoughts about Pac-Man.
He is an exceptional fighter doing exceptional things.
He's not the first man to do them.
He's an extraordinary athlete who for a long time was amateurish in his technique. He has made great strides in the last three years on that front.

I like it. Just a heads up the guys on this board dont talk about Pac much. You should read some of the other threads and talk about them. Also any questions about fighters of the past ask Marble, Dmar, Ring, Canvas, Bird or Frank.

Very true Marble. The thing that has really jumped out to me has been the improvement in footwork/balance.

See they know way more than me Thomas. Marble can sum up a fighter quick.

In the second round of the Diaz fight I came out of my chair, literally, stood up and shouted at the guys with me "WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY?"
It was like he'd learned footwork and how to move laterally all at one time. I have rarely seen such sudden technical improvement in a pro fighter and almost never in their late twenties.

Roach has worked extensively on footwork, balance, and making Manny a 2 handed fighter!!!
If you remember the early 2000s, Manny was landing the straight left and not that much else (consistently).

He is one of a kind. How often do guys like him come around? Like every 20 years.

Maybe it just took Roach a long time to get Manny to do all the things he had been trying to teach. He started training Pac in 2001 and Manny was about as raw a world class fighter could be.

Its amazing that his natural skills got him that far. Then roach took him to another level.

Manny he seemed to have a couple of jumps.
After the Morales loss(2005) he seemed to improve (and was on the same level for a few years).
Then after the 2nd Marquez fight (2008) where he was lucky to get the draw (my view), he seemed to take things to another level.

Here is Manny winning his first title. Moves only in straight lines, can't cut off the ring, no head movement, no balance and no right hand. But he wanted to win and though he was way behind by this time he's just worn Sasakul out and the champ can't move anymore.
Now compare THAT guy to THIS guy

You mean how often do guys improve so much so late? Not very often that I can think of. Yoriorkis Gamboa is doing the same thing right now though.

Gamboa didnt have as far to go as Pac did but you are right. Thats odd that we have two of them that is improving that late.

I've figured it out. It wasn't Manny maturing and learning from Roach. It was:::::
Manny using his Wapakman powers!!!!

my thoughts on manny pac..a great fighter but it took him a while to finaly put it together..like marble said his noterioty comes from winning seven titles 4 of the lineal but fighting at world class in many weight clases has been done many times before and with 8 to 10 divisions not 17..carpienter mcclarlin armstrong ross are just a few examples..for several years manny fought with heart and guts and determination only..a good left hand and litterly very little skill..hes transformed sooo much over the past 3 to 4 years that hes a different fighter..hes now a great one..balance is still poor in my view but greatly improved..the angles he hits you at the speed of the now learned quality combinations are very impressive.roach indeed has improved mannys tech and delivery 10 fold..but to do that you need a fighter willing to learn listen and change..change is very hard for many fightes.pacs dedication is a huge reason for fredie roaches improvements in pac..freddie has the knowledge but its useless if you have a fighter thats not going to learn and go all out in learning..in that roach has it pac..a student that wants to improve in everything and willing to put the effort or work in it...thats why i call manny a throwback to the old school..its the greatest compliment you can pay a fighter of today....he will be recognized by history as many of us feel now..a all time great..the pac of 5 to 10 years ago was far from it.thats not the case now.

What other guys from the past improved late like this? Did limited guys even survive until they were in their late twenties to have a chance to improve?
Maybe I'm thinking about this wrong. Maybe it isn't age, maybe it is number of fights. Can you think of guys who improved so dramatically after 50 fights?
