Nope. The magic about "cleaning out" is you take on a SERIES of men with a SERIES of styles. THAT is what makes it so impressive.

Single elimination is a bad idea for a tourney. Round robin is far superior for annointing 'the man'. The Super 6 structure is not the problem. The problem is the mindset of today's fighter and manager/promoter.

Fighting once every 4 months should not be a problem, especially with the sticking points already agreed to in a master contract. The Froch/AA postponement along with the current Ward/Dirrell debacle are pathetic.

Yeah what makes these things fragile is how long they take. The men in these tourney's should fight every three months, no excuses. You aren't ready? Forfeit. That way the event is over in a year or so which is STILL a long time to hold this many fighter's together.

a couple of weeks of R & R after a fight, +1 week of running/shadow boxing,+5 week camp = 8 weeks. That's all it should take for these guys to be ready for the next fight, 2 months.

3 months allows for sufficient time to heal from minor cuts and is more than reasonable for a tournament.

These freakin' guys have 4 months and they still can't pull it off!!

Well injuries have plagued the tournament Canvas, didn't Ward have knee surgery before the Green fight ?

I think most of them stop going to the gym until their next camp begins. It's crazy! These guys oughtta be in the gym and running 300 days a year. They don't always have to be sparring or working to a peak, but they gotta stay active.

That doesn't leave a lot of room for injuries or even cuts to heal though. I suppose that plays in to your whole "durability" thing, eh Marble? Still, seems like you might miss out on the best possible fights with timelines that tight.
