| interesting fight After Tomasz Adamek’s decision win over Michael Grant this weekend ARENA CEO Ahmet Öner immediately called for the Polish star to fight his Cuban heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis next. “I believe that this could be a good fight to revive the division”, said Öner. “Both guys are top 10 heavyweights and two of the most interesting fighters in the division. Adamek is a two division world champion and proved that he can play with the big boys. Solis is a three-time world amateur champion, Olympic gold medallist and unbeaten as a professional. I am pretty sure that we can get the US public interested in this heavyweight clash. I like the fight not only as Solis’ promoter but also as a boxing fan. The winner would be a legitimate challenger for either Klitschko brother.”
Right after beating Grant, Adamek stated that he wants to return to the ring before the end of the year. Solis – who is co-promoted by ARENA and Top Rank – is scheduled to fight again on October 9th with no opponent named yet.
“With his performance this weekend Adamek showed his quality but also that he is not ready for a title shot yet. Solis would be a reasonable opponent for him. I don’t think that Adamek would take the fight for October but maybe we could do it in November or December. Solis is ready for this test.”

| I can see the negotiation now.
Adamek: I want 60% of the gate
Solis: I want a lifetime supply of Ring Dings!

| the little bit that i have seen of solis makes me think that he has a ton of talent and skill but he has the current HW attitude of being fat and out of shape but still hoping to win. | |

| I doubt Adamek's people look at Solis and risk losing a shot at the Bros, sounds like Lance Whitaker is next then Vitali/Wlad | |

Goofi? Seriously? Didn't he just get beat by 143-year-old Oliver McCall? How is that a good choice?

Goofi? Seriously? Didn't he just get beat by 143-year-old Oliver McCall? How is that a good choice? Because he's HUGE! Unfortunately the only truly excellent huge men are the Klitschkos. So the prep fights one can get are, um, with men, of um, dubious quality

I guess Adamek really wants that highlight reel clip of him KO'ing a 6'7 or 6'8 guy to use in the promotion pack for a Klitschko fight. At least he's wanting to fight PERIOD; which is more than you can say about a lot of guys lately.

The issue with Dimtrenko is he doesn't fight like a big man. He gives up his height, he fights on the retreat too often. I'm just not sure how representative he is. Of course at least he's young. Lance Whittaker on the other hand is approaching 40 and hasn't beaten a quality fighter in maybe a decade. But he is 6'7 and 250. Ugh, what a coupla choices.

| Adamek's team is actually trying to give him as prepared as possible for the Klitschko bros. I don't think he will beat either brother, but he really is going to do everything he can.
I'd rather he face Haye, but I doubt Haye will want to fight Adamek. He has Fraudley at the end of the year. Then next Summer he will probably be forced to have a mandatory. Then by the time he could face Adamek it would be late 2011 (SINCE WE KNOW HAYE ISN'T FIGHTING MORE THAN TWICE A YEAR), or even early 2012.

| The below article from boxingscene makes it clear that Solis can keep dreaming.
By Mark Vester
Promoter Kathy Duva spoke with BoxingScene.com's Bill Emes and said Tomasz Adamek would likely face the current heavyweight champions in 2011. There have been discussions and based on the feedback and schedules of everyone involved, it doesn't appear possible to hold a fight between Adamek and one of the Klitschkos or David Haye in 2010.
Adamek is going to return on the tentative date of November 6. The massive 6'8, 250-pound Lance Whitaker is one of the opponents under consideration. Duva says there is no problem with Adamek heading to Germany to fight one of the Klitschko brothers. She expects a huge crowd of Polish fans to raid Germany for a possible Adamek-Klitschko fight.
"I think we are talking about next year. Every indication that we've gotten from the Klitschko people and every indication that we've not gotten from the Haye people because he's planning to fight in November, is that it's likely not going to happen before next year," Duva told BoxingScene.com. "The real decision right now is whether or not he's going to take a fight before that happens."
Adamek is already the number one contender to Wladimir Klitschko's WBO title, so Duva feels the big title shot will come sooner than later.
"He's already the number one contender in the WBO, so very soon we'll be in position to compete for the promotion," Duva said.
