Nick Diaz to try pro boxing again

MMA veteran Nick Diaz will apparently dabble in professional boxing again.

Longtime promoter, matchmaker and manager Don Chagrin today announced he has signed the 26-year-old southpaw and that Diaz has received permission from Strikeforce to compete in both sports.

No date or opponent were determined for Diaz, who was recently scratched from this weekend's Strikeforce card and a title fight with Jay Hieron after skipping a mandatory drug test.

I like Allan Green since he is from Tulsa. A guy I use to work with use to give me updates on him all the time.

Allan Green is talented but is making all the wrong decisions. He just turned down a chance to fight Sakio Bika on the sept 19th undercard.

Nick seems to be making some bad decisions lately. I hope he can get his head together and make a return to WW where he belongs. He seems to be like BJ when he was just looking for new challenges to amuse himself rather then focusing on 1 thing.

As long as he fights another worthless pos with no skills he should be fine again. It is an easy payday.

Marcus Davis should be the one calling out Diaz and Dana should allow him a one fight trip outside the promotion to take Diaz to task. Who wouldn't want to see these two guys in a straight boxing match? I would...

He did good in his only other professional boxing match. It's not like he's going to fight Benard Hopkins. What's the big deal?

Just because Nick is talking about Green, does not mean they are going to fight. You think any promoter would set up a prime boxer with a 28-1 pro record with a guy who's only win came on a 4 round decision against a nobody?

Yes I do. Diaz would bring eyeballs to the fight.

The thing about Diaz is he's never gonna do what we or anybody else thinks he should do. What he should be doing is waiting to see if Hieron wins or another legitamite WW signs with strikeforce and he can fight for the title. If you want to be a champ in both sports shouldn't you become a champ in one before you jump to the other?

Why Nick!!!!! It does make any sense at all. He cant beat green in a boxing match but I would love to see him back in the UFC. I think he would be a force to be reconkened with.

Allen Green has far bigger fish to fry in boxing then to fight a 1-0 MMA fighter. Diaz can have 10 boxing fights and win all of them and there will still never be stong consideration for a Green-Diaz boxing match. This has as much legs as Torres-Mayweather.

Green is a top fighter. Diaz fought a 4 round fight in some ran down hotel in Sac. I have a hard time seeing an athletic commision even sanctioning it as a boxing match. It would probably be Mercer-Sylvia all over again...with a different result.
