| Ring.com's alphabetical list continues http://www.ringtv.com/blog/2204/the_best_of_all_time_a_to_z_burley/The video of their selection Charley Burley is an exceptional tutorial on boxing basics. It is worth the eight minutes. The honorable mentions are Carmen Basilio, Marco Antonio Barerra, Wilfredo Benitez, Kid Berg and Jack Britton. Burley was truly a spectacular fighter and is a worthy choice. Jack Britton, the great WWI welterweight would also have an argument. | |

Ooof. Bad Benny Briscoe deserves a respectful mention. Not a great fighter, but a bad mammajamma with a three B nickname.

In an old SNL Weekend Update they kept talking about how nationally every 56 seconds a black man beats up a white man while in the background they ran the Norton-Bobick tape over and over again. Pretty funny.

This is a true story.I went to the bathroom and when I came back it was over.Norton didn't seem to like white guys, but his mouth got him in trouble with Cooney when they did the Shavers-Cobb broadcast together.Ken totally disrespected Gerry that night and Cooney would make him pay dearly for it.

I watched that fight with my Dad and I remember turning to him as Norton was walking down the aisle and saying "He wants no part of this, he's scared to death."

| I agree Marble.Even if Norton had been in his prime, the result would have been the same. His style was all wrong against Cooney.I actually liked what he did to Ken. I was never a fan of his.I had a friend of mine who met him in a bar in S.D in the early 80's,and said the man was a complete jerk-off. | |
