Waht's your bid? Obviously not but Ward's been given an unfair advantage during the group stages. He better fight in Europe during the semi final. |

I could be wrong here but I really don't think the national thing is very important. If Ward is fighting in Buffalo he ain't at home. Same as if Froch is fighting in London.

If it wasn't (for whatever reason), simply do a purse bid. That's what I've been saying. If there is a disagreement , there should be an immediate purse bid presided over by Hershman. But Showtime doesn't want that, otherwise nearly all the fights would be in Europe. It is absolutely disgusting that with most of the contract details agreed to in advance, and 4 months between fights, these sleaze bags are still bickering and delaying things.

He won't I believe because Showtime has rigged it so the semi and final are in the states. I may be wrong. You are right, it is an outrage and a conscious attempt to put one fighter over.

You are right, it is an outrage and a conscious attempt to put one fighter over. So your saying Ward doesnt wipeout Kessler and Green if they where fighting anywhere else but Oakland?

Goossen wants it in Oakland bc of $$$ and a nice size gate
Shaw says no way it happens there
My take, put it in Oakland, push it back to make it a double header with Froch-Abraham on October 2nd, and actually promote the hell out of it to get 10k+
As a fan, I get to go to it again, fighters make more $$$, and hey there's actually a good crowd on hand for TV! If it were ever about maximizing $, then Ward vs Kessler would have been in Denmark - and Dirrell vs AA would have been in Germany where the money would have been far greater. It is, and has always been, about trying to establish a new American star. Bute anyone?

| Put it in Vegas or put it in Montreal.
My first vote is Vegas, but if they don't think they can draw there I'm all for more fights going to Montreal and Bute sitting in the crowd working on his tan.
I'd hate to see this fight in Oakland. |

I'd hate to see this fight in Oakland. Couldn't agree more. Fighting the first fight of this tournament(for the Americans) in there hometown is OK. But after that, if the fight is in the U.S., put the fight in Vegas, L.A., Atlantic City, etc, etc, etc.... This gets these guys a better chance to build up a wider fan base, and it also gets them used to fighting outside of they're own backyards(even in the U.S.). Ward/Dirrell should be somewhere neutral, even if it's somewhere in SoCal. Not making excuses for Dawson, but I think he fell victim to fighting in his own backyard all of the time. You have to travel to hostile territory in your career. It just makes you a better fighter, and helps you deal with a tough crowd. He looked a little shell shocked and tight in Canada...

Same as if Froch is fighting in London. he's at home if he's fighting someone from another country I don't buy it. Unfamiliar surroundings, strange bed, not eating his usual food, having a new and unfamiliar schedule. It all contributes to the anxiety of not fighting truly at home.

| I'm biased, but........ BRING IT TO OAKLAND.
I'd love to be able to go to the fight. If it's at Oakland Arena, it makes it VERY easy.
PS -- I agree with Marble on the "at home point." I don't care if it is in the same country, if you're not sleeping in your usual bed/home, you're not at home and it IS an advantage for the person that IS at home.

But I disagree with this premise. These guys are being primed and readied for the big time. They are going to have to start fighting out of their hometowns sooner or later if they are going to be considered elite. Why not start now? Get these guys' feet wet(with big fights early) fighting in places like Vegas or AC. I just hate to see American fighters suffer from that JT syndrome, where virtually all of his fights were in his back yard....
