Lombard vs Schlemenko official for Bellator 34, October 28th.

After a pair of devastating non-title wins, Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard (26-2-1 MMA, 5-0 BFC) will finally put his belt on the line in October.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced on Thursday that Lombard will face season-two tournament winner Alexander Shlemenko (30-4 MMA, 3-0 BFC) at Bellator 34.

The season-three-ending Bellator 34 event takes place Oct. 28 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

The main card airs on FOX Sports Net.

Lombard claimed the 185-pound title in Bellator's debut season after steamrolling through Jared Hess, Damien Stelly and Virgil Lozano. While Hess lasted until the fourth round in a hard-fought contest, Lombard finished the other two opponents in the opening round.

Lombard remained active outside of the promotion and racked up three wins in a four-month stretch before returning to the Bellator cage.

The Cuban judoka has since earned two wins in just 44 seconds of cagetime under the Bellator banner. Highlights of the most recent bout, a Thursday night win over Herbert Goodman at Bellator 24, can be viewed in the embedded video.

Meanwhile, Shlemenko earned his title shot by claiming Bellator's season-two tournament crown with victories over Bryan Baker, Jared Hess and Matt Major. Shlemenko's unorthodox and flashy striking attack wowed audiences throughout the tournament.

The 26-year-old Russian currently carries a six-fight win streak and has earned victories in 15 of his past 16 fights.

But Shlemenko I believe will have a reach adv, and is a sound technical striker, I could see Lombard having trouble finding his range.
