Silva has earned his shot at the title. I'm sure the typical anti-Strikefore complainers will criticize this fight, but this is no different than Maia and Sonnen earning shots when injuries sidelined other challengers. This is a great fight. Overeem should win here, but Silva is a big skilled dude. If he won the title I wouldn't be surprised.

| I like the matchup, another very good test for both guys,
As far as the title scenario, I don't love it, would like to see a fighter coming off more then one win, but it is the best option that SF has at the moment. Better then Fedor off a loss imo.

| It's a cool fight but I just wish Strikeforce would sort out the title mess already. |

I'd prefer Fedor avenged his loss first.

| I'd be fine if Fedor just won to give him a title shot considering it would still be about 28 wins in his last 29 or something. Werdum should fight Overeem, or i guess rematch Bigfoot depending on what happens before he fights Fedor again.
If the word about Barnett coming to Strikeforce is soon...thats Fedor's next fight and a good one.
M-1 won't agree to co-promote a Fedor-Overeem fight. They were reluctant to do so earlier in the year when Overeem ended up having to defend against Brett Rogers and thre is no chance now that Fedor is coming off a loss without even facing the big dog in the division yet. If M-1 would agree to the fight...Strikeforce would have made it...they wanted Fedor's next fight to be Overeem.
M-1 wants to avenge the Werdum loss so they can pretend it didnt happen when Fedor's contract with them and M-1's contract with Strikeforce expires. It's all they have left and they know it highly likely Fedor takes a rematch while they don't really know what to expect from Overeem.

| I don't care if Fedor lost and a loss didn't stop Strikeforce from giving BRett Rogers a title shot. I just want to see these two fight, regardless of the title. Besides Werdum is out for a long time. | |

Probably, but Silva is big, just outboxed AA, and has good BJJ skills. There is a level of intrigue here.

| This fight should have happened with Werdum out. I guess Fedor doesn't fight anymore this year. I am not sure who he would fight? IMO Fedor and M-1 fear Overeem! This is not a big draw for SF and they better stack the card if it is on CBS, which I think it will be. I would imagine they will. | |

| I picked Werdum over Silva and Silva over AA
AA is no where close to what Overeem is right know, and netither is Werdum standning IMO, Big foot conttrolled Werdum till it got to the ground, I think Overeem wins this via KO

| I bet Fedor holds out and gets the Werdum rematch and then retires. Everything I said about him in the past is true. He went from the best ever, to a guy who ducks competition behind shady management. How many fights has he had this year? | |

Okay then when are they gonna fight next? If fedor had a fight scheduled then I wouldn't say anything. Has Fedor had a legit injury or surgery like some of the above mentioned? NO! We are all like a broken record on Fedor. How many times will some of you put his balls in your mouth and defend him when you have no arsenal whatsoever? He doesn't fight enough.

| Shogun and Brock are on pace with Fedor and we all know why. Fedor could take a fight with another HW, but he probably won't and we know that. | |

| Actually yeah, Fedor broke his hand in the Brett Rogers fight. Just like Machida did in the Shogun fight. They were out for about the same length of time. His return was only pushed back a month or two because of contract disputes.
We'll see Fedor before the end of the year. By the end of the year, they all would have fought twice. I agree he can fight more but i will argue that all the best guys should fight more. GSP for example only has a boring 5 round fight with lame old Dan Hardy to show for this year and no date has been set for his return
calm down beast.

Okay I'll put the pitchfork up. I just don't see Fedor fighting until Werdum is back now. Who do you guys thinks he fights this year though? I just don't see him taking any other fight and I need my Fedor fix. He should have already had a fight scheduled and he won't fight Reem when the fight was his if he wanted it. Barnett would be cool, but there are too many hurdles there and it is pure fan speculation anyway. Del Rasario could fight him.

Franklin and Wand have injuries and Wand had to pull out. Jackson is doing the movie. Cain has another fight and had to wait for a title fight. Hendo is in SF. Jake has another and had to wait three months for his contract. Big Nog is scheduled to fight again as is Condit. Not sure about Serra.

The point is BBC that Fedor is no different than over a dozen other top names in the sport and targeting his activity level is something you'd only do if you had an agenda.
