| Ortiz has a loss against Maidana and no impressive wins.
Beating Arnaoutis, losing to Maidana, beating Antonio Diaz, Hector Alatorre (who?), and then beating 38 year old Nate Campbell (at a weight where Campbell has 0 career wins), doesn't show me a whole heck of a lot.
Ortiz is a golden boy fighter. His competition coming up didn't test him. First time he faced a tough fight he wilted (Maidana). Then in trying to rehab him they are feeding him guys who are mediocre (Diaz), completely suck (Alatorre), or 38 years old (Campbell).
What does that teach Ortiz??? Yes, you want a fighter to get his confidence back, but when is he going to face a good lower top 10 guy who is a 140lb fighter and not old????
Oh yeah, its Golden Boy. Ortiz will fight nobodies/guys who are completely tailor made for him, and then when he has to fight a top 5 guy he still won't have passed a stiff test, and will get stretched again!!!!!!!

| I'd easily put Ortiz ahead of McCloskey who's done nothing to warrant a top ten place, I would also easily put Ortiz ahead of Peterson too who's only claim to fame was getting consumed by a desert storm.
Good call on Judah dmar but I can understand it given that he's not beaten a top Jr Welterweight in years. |

| Why is it Kotelnik has faced Maidana, Khan, and Alexander, but the rest of those guys just run their darn mouths but don't fight????
He beat Maidana. Khan was too good for him and used the jab/right hand to good effect. Alexander he gave heck and some think he should have won.
Again, why does this guy go out and fight the best, while most of the rest of the top guys at 140 talk about how they would beat other guys, but don't face them.

| Zab, hasn't beaten a top Jr. Welterweight in years. At least he has beaten top junior welters before and was once the man at 147 (if only for a short period).
McCloskey-hasn't beaten anyone of note Peterson-hasn't beaten anyone of note Ortiz-hasn't beaten anyone of note
That is the boxing world we live in now. You have guys in the top 10 who haven't beaten a guy who is legitimately in the top 20 in that weight class.

| I know Kotelnik is mature and has to make the best money he can. That requires him to be the opponent for other top guys.
I'm sick of cocky young guys. I like the bravado, but I want to see it in the ring, not on twitter or to boxing writers.

Back in the 20's and early in the 1930's Ring used to rank as many as 15 guys in each division so there is njo real magic to a top ten. With twice as many divisions maybe they ought to rank just the top 6-7. I mean how many divisions are there where someone below say five really has a recent win of significance? Two or three? If I could make another change I'd change the thinking on the p4p idea too. First I don't think at any point in time there has to be a p4p #1 guy. Manny at 130 may well have been a sound choice. There is NO WAY at welterweight Manny is the p4p the best fighter on the planet. NO WAY! At the moment I just don't think anybody warrants the title. And let's face it, once you get past the first 3 guys in the Ring p4p rankings? It makes one want to cry. I mean what the heck has Nonito Donaire done for the past 18 months to be #4???? Shane Mosely is 0-1 and looked shot in his only fight in 18 months and he's #5?????

Hell I don't even know if McVea/Mcvey was literate. It may be that simple. He didn't recognize his name and the promoters etc. didn't care enough about a black fighter to verfiy.
