| I know alot of yall argued against the notion of the importance of the fight factoring into an "_______of the year" award, but imo it without a doubt should play a part.
Werdum over Fedor was huge, but Silva over Chael was very big as well. #1 p4p being dead to rights in the final round of a title fight only to sink one in late? Classic stuff.

| Both were very huge subs but Werdums over Fedor(a man many thought was unbeatable) I think was slightly more impressive. Actually it was like 1 and 1a. | |

| The submission of the number 1 p4p in the first is worth more than a submission by the then number 1 p4p late in a fight against a guy with almost 10 sub losses in such a way. | |

| The Werdum submission strictly from a BJJ perspective was better since he was working for two at once and duped Fedor into it, where Chael just made a tired mistake. Beyond that, everyone said Chael would be sub'd after beating up Anderson for a while, they just assumed mid round 3 not late in the final round.
Who called Silva to sub Sonnen?
Who called Werdum to sub Fedor?

yeah I lean Werdum to, but it is candidate, agree? and even with Chael's history, I thought that fight was over once Chael got him on the ground early in the 5th.

| Me too, and so did Chael. I noticed he was leaving himself open in the 5th right before it happened. | |

I thought from about the 3rd round he was leaving himself open actually. He left arms out there alot.

| I noticed that after he got puched by that jab from the bottom he started to cover up. It's possible he caught a finger in the eye or something because as soon as it landed he started pressing down again and turning his head from side to side while trying to use his hands to cover up just before the sub. | |

Anderson's sub was big like Cro-Cop's for me. Neither was some exceptional great feat of BJJ skill or something, but the stage and magnitude carries a different kind of meaning and importance. It was just cool.
