HBO B.A.D. fights tonight - Devon Alexander vs. Andreas Kotelnik & Tavoris Cloud vs. Glen Johnson - let's score it!

Kotelnik charging hard. Alexander was getting roughed up pretty good. Kotelnik has deceiving power given his record... I think he hits harder than his KO ratio indicates. Either that, or Alexander is not very durable and can be worn down.

Either way, Kotelnik wins the round. Alexander up 4 rounds to 2.

I'll go on record right now: If Khan faced Alexander right now, I favor Khan.

Alexander is a sucker for an accurate right hand.

devon has no defense

Tough round to score. Hard to win a round when a guy throws double the amount of punches as you.

I have no idea why somebody as fast as Devon would not implement more head movement into their fight strategy.

Alexander up 5 rounds to 2.

He does have no defense. As I posted 15 mins ago, he is a sucker for right hands, and his only defense is throwing punches.

He has the speed and his corner wants him to slip punches, but he basically has 2 modes: throwing alot of shots on offense and then getting hit on defense.

Fight is heating up. Alexander really needs to move his head and stop messing around. Kotelnik is hitting him with some good shots.

I'll give that round to Andreas. THought he landed some hard shots and won it down the stretch.

I'm a lot less impressed with Alexander then I was after his KO of Juan Urango.

Alexander's corner said I need you to keep boxing. You only have a problem when you stop in front of him.

Alexander doesn't really box and move. He just throws alot of punches, then stops throwing punches when he gets a little tired.

Yup, I agree, Bradley beats him too, Kotelnik has hit Alexander with some good shots, if he had any power I believe he might stop him.

Alexander isn't having alot of fun with Kotelnik. Khan beat him easily. Yes, styles make fights, but that simple fact is telling.

Alexander wins on points fairly easily, but he knows he's been in a fight, Kotelnik took some of that cockiness away.

Alexander will win wide.

I didn't score the Alexander fight, but win or lose it is always a bad sign when you are outlanded over 12 rounds.

I really can't remember the last time 2 12 round fights in a row had identical scores on all scorecards. Strange.

sad we have to depend on incompetent judges for decent outcomes...

So how was the fights ?

First fight, Johnson vs Cloud was Cloud landing some bigger shots but getting outworked alot.
Johnson used alot of the jab to try to win rounds. Close fight with close rounds.

I had it for Johnson 7-5, I believe Ring had it same. A couple of people on here had it for Cloud. Harold Lederman had it even.

Judges scored it 116-112; not 1 judge all 3 judges; a little bizarre. 8-4 is all 3 judges giving Cloud the benefit of the doubt in the close rounds.

2nd fight I didn't score, but Alexander struggled big time with Kotelnik. Alexander was busier but he didn't seem to be landing the better shots. Kotelnik threw less but landed a little bit more and seemed to land more damaging punches.

Alexander has ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO defense. He is quick and throws alot of punches as his offense AND defense. He'll throw 12 shots in 10 seconds and if he lands some, then great. When he hits mostly gloves and arms, not so great.

As soon as Alexander finishes throwing and naturally has to stop throwing, he is there to be hit. A long quick jab and straight right hand don't look hard to land.

Devon also throws the same shots over and over. For a while it looked like jab jab left hand. Then he switched it up. But he is repetitive and someone smart in the ring like Kotelnik can figure out when to counter. If Kotelnik had power, I think he knocks Alexander out.

Judges had it 116-112; once again, not one judge but all three. I didn't score the fight, no idea if that is a good score or not, but Kellerman and Papa seemed to insinuate they had it closer than that. Lederman had it wide but I'm not sure he can judge anything anymore.

Was 2 good fights (short version).

wow Glen Johnson is just unreal, he's a throwback that just won't back down.

Interesting about Alexander's lack of defense, maybe I shouldn't so worried for Khan after all.

I don't think you should be worried about Khan at all, I feel he's tops in the division. I just wish he wouldn't fight Marquez and he'd fight Maidana.

I think that Alexander just had a bad night with a guy that has way more experience than he does. Kotelnik did defeat Maidana and came on very strong against Khan in the later rounds of their fight. Bradley Vs Alexander will be a very interesting fight. I look forward to it.
