Dan Severn

Should Dana bring Dan Severn back just for a couple of fights before the guy retires? I think he should. In fact I would make sure he had a good chance to have his 100th victory where he garnered his first. In the UFC.

I wouldn't mind a legends UFC live event where we get to say bye to all the legends properly. Chuck Liddell, Mark Coleman, Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock amongst others get 1 last fight in the UFC. That way they get a proper sendoff with 1 last fight and it's free so people can't complain about having to pay for it.

I think that 100th victory is the only reason Severn is still fighting.

The only problem is is Severn fights nothing but Greg Nagy caliber club fighters anymore. No one the UFC has under contract fits that bill. HW's like Travis Browne and Matt Mitrione would brutally hammer the Beast. Five years ago he was still fighting up and comers and good mid level guys but not anymore. Also I've read some accusation of fight fixing.

Kimbo Slice, Mark Coleman and James Toney are the only recent UFC fighters that Severn possibly could compete with. A bout with Chuck Liddell might be worthwhile for curiosity sake.

I think Coleman and Kimbo would still beat the Beast.

Stefan Struve would get his assed kicked. He doesn't hit hard enough and I think he wuld get GNP'd.

I think Struve would bust servern up to be honest. With that long reach he could hit Servern from across the octagon.

Struve would beat him badly inside a round.

Severn would enver get that 100th win if he was in the UFC

let Severn reach the milestone not get frilled on national tv by a scrub fighter

and wolf is right, alot of fix accusations have come from Severn fights

Severn vs Shamrock, Severn vs Gracie, Shamrock vs Gracie only way they should be back in the cage

Andrew would have actually earned a +1 here if not for the rep system being banished.

I agree., Dan Savern comes back to fight Stephan Bonnar for his 100th win.

Was just looking on UFC.com ( they remodeled their entire site) at all of the HW and LHW they have listed and there is not one fighter I could see Severn beating out of the 55 guys listed. Doesn't mean he couldn't, just sayin.

Why hate Mitrione...he beat up Kimbo...still, 52 is not exacly nursing home status...he would kick Mitriones ass because he's stronger and more talented.

Severn would also rape Kimbo.

Why isn't Dan still in the UFC? Why did I see him fighting on the middle of a card in Colusa in 2004 looking like the Michellin Man? Shouldn't people who gauge talent of fighters for a living have caught on and brought this guy in or back if he was anything other than an old timer needing to score a check every month against 2 fight journeymen? Severn was good in the first generation, his game is still there unlike his body.

A Kimbo fight might actually be competitive though. They probably have the same lungs, Kimbo much more strength, Severn much more skill.

Saying Dan Severn would destroy scrubs like Mitrione and Bonnar even at his advanced age should not bring up the question "Why is he not in the UFC?"...it should bring up the question of why those two are in the UFC.

We know why they are in the UFC. Bonnar was on the show fought hard, he is second tier with five of his 7 losses in the UFC coming against past champions and just KO redeemed a controversial loss to to save his job. Matt was on the show, didn't get far but came out and knocked out the biggest star on it and the biggest guy on it, he hasn't lost yet, if he starts to, he'll be gone. Severn winning against guys who are tubs of lard bigger then himself at the moment with 1-2, 1-1, 3-3 records means nothing, his last loss was to a 2-0 middle weight 3 years ago, that means something, from the past 20 guys he has fought, their average record is 2-3.5. All he is anymore is an old ringer that travels the country beating people who are not fighters or green rookies in fights. He is as far from the UFC as anyone could be. He will get his 100 wins at a county fair some where against a guy sanctioned for his first pro fight that very day.

Im sensing some animosity regarding Severn in your post. I think GDP got snubbed an autograph in 2004 when he saw Dan Severn.

Mitrione beating Jones and Kimbo because of their "look" or "name" is no more impressive than Severn's win over Colin Robinson two years ago.

but go on...hate one of the legends of the sport. I bet even a registered Severn hater like birdofthad is shaking his head at this disgusting display of blind hatred for the UFC HoFamer
