glen johnson is a credit to todays fight game..HOF nooo way but im sure the hall in the next 10 years will include members that truly dont belong..that silliness must stop..gatti has no chance..if he gets in then the hall litterly has no standards at all..a crowd pleasure yes a warrior yes extremly popular yes..great fighter near great fighter far from it..
myself i feel in a given year if one fighters good enought to get in then thats your only inductee..if theres 7 in another year then all 7 deserve recogontion...what criteria does the hall have i dont know..it surely has several fighters in that dont belong at all..baseball has done the same thing..
being a member SHOULD mean your amoung the greatest of the greats or very close to it..fighters that even at there best is mediocre are voted in by incompetent sportswriters etc etc..examples are ingo and braddock..come on..there are several more..then there are talks of so and so a future hofamer..realy.why.the word hof is use too losely ..the standards of any hall should be and remain high..i think marble said that a minimum of 4 members MUST be chosen each year..why.if theres only 1 that merits it then thats it.if there are 7 then its a great class that year.
future hofamers there are many names talked about in our posts..several names do not deserve that honor..will most of them get in..sure.why.no high standards and voters who dont recognize any standard at all..the past has many a great to near great fighter are not in it nor even considered today..why.voters most of them know shit about boxing history i guess..that will not be the case for todays fighters.noo deserving fighter will be left out.nor any boarderline hofamer either..that i can go along with.you deserve it then your in..several non deserving fighters who are mediocre at best or just mearly good at best will get in..
its happened in the past to a certain degree it will continue in the future to a higher degree thus cheapening the status of a hofamer like the cheapening of a title holder called champ today..

Just for the record, I agree with all the arguments I've read on here against Glen Johnson being chosen for the HOF. Just a couple of points. There are a considerable number of fighters who don't belong in the Hall. Ken Norton for example. Also, regardless of all the sensible arguments against Gatti getting in the Hall, I can almost gurantee you he has a special spot reserved for him at this moment. No, he may not belong but he'll be there sooner than you think. I always thought that if fights were 15 rounds, Glen Johnson would've had a better career. Antonio Tarver and Chad Dawson always faded in the later rounds against him. I've never seen Johnson outclassed in any fight. Maybe, and this is a big maybe, a win over Tavoris Cloud can start a new career for Johnson. If he loses, I'd advise him to retire. If he wins, and is somehow able to defeat Dawson in 12 rounds, I think we're looking at a new reality for Johnson, especially if he can get a title belt and defend it at least five times. I realize I'm asking a lot from him, but I'm a big fan. We can get unrealistic at times. All I'm saying is, Johnson's famous saying, "I'm not the man. I'm just looking for the man" may inspire him to greater feats. Let's face it. He hasn't found the man yet.
