| Thanks Bird for the Lost Treasures. If I recall,Siki had an agreement with Carpentier to lose a Decision, but when Carpentier began to fight a bit too earnestly,Siki knocked him out. | |

| I think Siki got tired of Carpentier rushing in with his head and timed him with the uppercut.Siki was exceptionally muscled for a fighter of his era.Just ordered the book on him on Amazon, and am looking forward to reading it. | |

| agree winston, its funny how much they were loading up on the punches in that fight
watch the Louis vid, its nuts how Louis would tag a guy, and the guy would stand still like oh shit what was that, then WHAM the next punch sent em flying into la la land

Siki supposedly got a raw deal against McTigue, but what did he expect fighting an Irishman in Dublin on St.Patrick's Day.The man probably had a room temperature IQ.The man sure lived a full life for the short time he was placed here on earth.Have a good one.

| you too
the one misconception was that he was real dumb, he was actually fluent in French, Dutch, and 1 other language and could write in French but of course the american press nicknamed him "the chimpanzee" and said he was a jungle man who spoke in grunts, pretty typicaly of the press at that time.
ya I heard the McTigue thing was a bad decision I actually liked him cause he took fights with all the chips stacked against him
agree he was what 26 or 27? and lived a nutty as it gets life
