| I was pro Khan prior to tonight.
the interview that was done with him, he seemed smug. And the way he asked for tonight's winner was in poor taste. He wants nothing to do with elite 140 lb guys. It isn't just his team, its him. They are willing to protect him and he is happy as hell to face smaller guys.
So, I can't defend him anymore (until he faces a darn elite 140 lb guy).

Reading through the thread is your best bet. Fuck there is 15 pages. I have been drinking way too much tonight to do that. Bika got DQed in the 1st for an Abraham style KO of a downed Mendy. Linares outboxed Juarez soundly, but started to fade in the last few rounds. Guerrero controlled Casa who looked slower than usual. Casa had his spots and dropped Guerrero in the 12th, but he lost by a wide UD. Marquez put on a clinic against Diaz who tried to box with him and looked great.
In the highlight of the night Pirog KTFOed Jacobs in the 3rd or 4th. Thanks Gumby you are my hero. I am going to bed now. Maybe I will get some. |

| Marquez will drink a few beers after this fight, he doesn't always drink beer, but when he does he drinks Dos Equis. Sharks will name a week after Marquez now..
G'night muther-fuckers.

Khan's easy to hate. He talks a lot of shit, doesn't back any of it up. But he's so damn talented that he probably could, and it makes it hard for me to call him out on his shit. I think at the end of the day he'll be the guy on top...and I'll hate him. |

So why did he say what he said after the Paulie fight?

| Anyone happen to notice the douchebag at ringside with the Jersey Shore t-shirt on? Each fighter on the card should have been mandated a free shot on him. | |

| i had it 8-4 marquez..poor advise from shields.after round nine they needed to tell diaz you need a ko to win..your way behind step it up..diaz is about 6 th in the division..casamayer cannot complete against top 5 or 6 or 7 fighters anylonger..3 or 4 fights left fighting guys from 15 -20..jacobs bubble has burst.middle title fight is a joke..golden boys baby is a also ran..sorry.unless kahn gets hit early he stops marquez in rounds 10 or 11.alexander earlier.. | |

So why did he say what he said after the Paulie fight? Because he wants that scenario to happen, but as usual politics get in the way. Khan and Freddie have been asking Golden Boy for Maidana all year. I am not thrilled about a Marquez fight but I can understand why certain people want to make it. |

| Yeah, Linares outboxed Juarez for the first 7 rounds pretty soundly. 8-10, Linares looked tired. If it had been a 12 round fight, then I think Juarez would have caught Linares.
Casamayor looked old. His reflexes, balance, and punch resistance were especially bad in first 3 rounds or so. Guererro fought on the outside and didn't press things early when he could have ended it. In final round, Casamayor dropped him, but Ghost got up and took the wide UD.
Pirog was fun to watch. He has bravado. He used head movement and some shoulder roll. In round 1, he landed a couple of big shots and you could tell Jacobs didn't like it at all. Fight was Jacobs moving and trying to box with Pirog trying to cut off the ring and get to him. Pirog absolutely destroyed Jacobs with a right hand in the 5th. Brutal shot.
Marquez won on judges cards 8, 9, and 10 rounds, respectively against Diaz. Diaz tried to box, not swarm Marquez. Marquez looked reasonably sharp but in the final 3 rounds he tired a bit and looked his age.
Great card when you are watching a wonderful free stream.

Great card when you are watching a wonderful free stream. I didn't get the hype on Linares at all. He gives up space waaaay too easily and isn't much on his front foot. I need to see him in with someone a little better than "I'm a nice guy who doesn't let my hands go" Rocky Juarez. Casamayor and the Ghost both looked blah. The Russian was an eye opener. The ref should have given a full count though I thought.

It' was just a Godawful fight. Sloppy as hell by both guys and THAT Marquez wasn't yet fully developed.

| Honestly I'd give Marquez a chance to beat Khan, the kid has never faced anyone as skilled or as experienced as Marquez ( Barrera is but he was shot when Khan fought him.) Who knows how Amir will react if he walks onto a counter shot from Marquez. Sure he's got advantages in speed and size but it's not like he's a fully fledged pro he's only 23. |

| Guererro needs to get away from 140. He isn't a 140 lb fighter at this point. he looked scared of getting hit by old Casamayor all night.
Linares always fights off the back foot too much. It was even more pronounced tonight. I think after getting KO'd in a round he is a bit of a reclamation project in terms of confidence.

The one thing Marquez is losing is his ability to avoid getting hit. He got hit clean and flush by maybe 20 left hooks tonight. But Baby Bull hits like a bantamweight so they didn't hurt Marquez. I think a Kahn fight is a great idea and a pick'em contest.

He also has this really strange habit of just collapsing his body when he touches the ropes. He doesn't stay erect so he can dictate action from there.

You beat me to that 23 year old comment. I do wonder though if fighters take longer to develop now since they only fight 2-3 times a year. Yet another example of the decay of the greatest sport there is.
