| Some say the Meldrick Taylor – Julio Chavez fight was stopped too soon. Others will point to the quick stoppage of the Holmes – Snipes fight. Snipes was ready to take Holmes out and they (Don King) were trying to protect the Holmes – Cooney fight. Others say that Muhammad Ali really won the first Frazier fight. While some believe that Jose Luis Castillo really defeated Floyd Mayweather. Most believe Antonio Margarito loaded his gloves against Cotto but only HBO has attempted a minor investigation in which a film showed something that may’ve been a foreign substance. Why do I list all these controversial fights? Where would we be without all this drama? Boxing is probably the most dramatic and exciting sport on the planet. Yes, great fights between great fighters are our favorite past time and they should be. However, there’s a place for controversy, the good guy, the bad guy, the crooked referee, the bought off judges and even sleazy promoters. All part of the greatest show on earth. Don’t believe me? Do you think a writer puts an antagonist in a story just for fun? Do you think soap operas give you dirty, rotten scoundrels for their health? I can tell you from personal experience that a great deal of thought goes into creating the bad guy or the beautiful but murderous diva. What we have in professional boxing is a soap opera. Let’s be thankful for the good, but make no mistake. You’d be bored as Elton John at the Playboy Mansion without the bad and the ugly. Just my take. | |

| I do. Leave my posts alone. What is it with you and my posts man. I'm just putting out food for thought here. Bird, you need the bad guy. If there was no bad guy, how could there ever be a good guy? We need our villians. | |
