1. Yes
2. This shouldnt be a title fight anyways Margo has not earned that honor. IMO. But that has zero to deal with the weight.

yes of course. the only issue is Margacheato's worthiness of getting the shot, that and the validity of the so called title.

The guy has FOUR lineal belts an unbelievable EIGHT divisions apart. THAT is what matters. Straps mean squat.

I only count his lineal , real championships anyways.

I usually count only his lineal belts unless I need the stat in an argument with Bird or another Floyd fan.

Why are you taking a shot at Frank when he is not even here?

Catchweights are just a personal preference for me, I prefer the fighters to fight at the division limit or at least have the choice to. Contracted catchweights just make a mockery of the divisions in my opinion, if you don't mind them that's fine by me.

margo has fought 25 of his last 27 fights at welterweight.150 is to his advantage not pacs..154 is the max weight for the jr middleweight title.like marble said there is no minimum..if both fighters for a 154 lb title fight come in at 154 or less the titles at stake..example if martinez was still the champ and agreeded to fight bradley at 145 lbs the jr middle titles at stake..period...yes there are definative rules for weight classes out side of the exaggerated example i gave for champ martinez..the weight spread of 147 plus to 154 defines that you are fighting in jr middleweight range..stop the dam bitching of this catchweight stuff..if you hate the matchup thats the reason.not the catchweight..look if floyd and manny got the wbc approval that they would fight for the vacant jr middle title and both fighters agreeded to a 150 lb limit nooooo one would be bitching yelling catchweight..everyone would say horay..the fights on..get real and be honest..

The divisions have done a great job at making a mockery of themselves. Day before fight weigh ins facilitate this mockery. Catchweights wouldn't be so prevalent if commisions forced same day weigh ins. Weighing in twenty four to thirty six hours before a fight makes catchweights in these cases necessary to protect the smaller fighter.

It's Pacquiao's first fight above 147, where you yourself has said he can't even make without the help of Ariza. Margarito has fought most of his career at 147 so I see no issue with the catchweight in this instance.

I don't believe my guy Pac is catching hell at this point. I have no more words left to express on this subject. LOL

If Margarito wants the fight he'll want the catchweight too.

Otherwise he'll be lining up another Roberto Garcia.

It's the perfect fighting weight for Margacheato

That's not what I am really asking. I don't have a dog in this fight either way. I'm just trying to figure how prevalent the practice is.

BTW, I hope Margarito knocks Manny's head off but then gets trampled by a marching band (ala Naked Gun) on his way back to the hotel room. Everybody wins.
