| Villasenor vs. Mcfedries at shark fights
Joey Villasenor will be fighting again soon, but it won't be in Strikeforce. The Jackson's MMA middleweight will take a fight in Shark Fights on September 11 as he battles former UFC heavy hitter Drew McFedries in Texas.
The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the match-up late on Friday evening.
Following a four fight win streak, Villasenor came up just short in his last fight against Ronald "Jacare" Souza in May. Villasenor punished Jacare on the feet, and looked like might get a stoppage late in the fight, but simply ran out of time.
Now he faces the complete opposite of Jacare in his next fight as he faces former UFC middleweight Drew McFedries.
McFedries last competed in September 2009, losing by way of rear naked choke to Tomasz Drwal, and was released at that time from the UFC. The Team Miletich fighter hasn't been back in the cage since that time, and looks to bounce back in Shark Fights in September.
According to sources speaking with MMAWeekly, Villasenor is taking the fight with Shark Fights, but it still planning on fighting with Strikeforce. The bout with McFedries is just based on Villasenor not having an exclusive contract with the promotion, and taking a fight while waiting for Strikeforce to give him another opponent.
Shark Fights in September is stacking up to be the promotion's biggest show yet with former UFC fighter Keith Jardine heading the card against Trevor Prangley, and Rameau Theirry Sokoudjou facing Houston Alexander in the co-main event.

| This card has almost a Strikeforce vs UFC feel to it.
I really like the Soko vs Alexander match though the most, and felt that the UFC would have been wise to make this fight before they cut either guy.

| Shark fights is doing an excellent job, particularly since they are not holding fighters feet to the fire ala UFC/Sf/DREAM | |

| That's because they're still a fledgling promotion without the stable, TV deals, or star power to do such things. | |

| TBA must've worked the ability to fight in other promotions into his SF contract. I hope we see him against Overeem at the next Dream event too | |

TBA is gonna do what he wants to do! I still can't believe his parents named "The Bad Ass" and he likes to go by TBA.

Can they just throw Melvin Manhoef in there and make it a triple threat? That's a guarantee of someone getting KTFO.
