No we'll be stuck with the pointless Cotto rematch thanks to Nevada's decision.

Something is really fucking wrong with the sport when two assholes can't figure out a way to split 50-something million dollars.

First Manny was a bitch about it, now Floyd's being a bitch about it.

Fuck the both of them. The sport is making me sick to my fucking stomach these days.

I dont think he's signing but it will be interested to see what BS Bob has to say.

The stacked cards alone kick the shit out of boxing these days. When was the last top-to-bottom boxing PPV that delivered?

The only argument you could have is if you are some sort of purist and don't like the sport itself. But someone that enjoys both sports can't logically say that boxing is delivering more these days.

unless your visually impaired I dont get how you cant see it, plus mainstream america doesnt care about boxing anymore, mainstream america has been forced to care about MMA hence all the bozo writers at ESPN and Sherdog who have more mistakes in 1 paper than Bert Sugar and Hank Kaplan did in a lifetime

I still think the limitation on MMA is the same as the decathlon. Decathletes are rarely, if ever, world elite in any one of the ten events. Instead they are very good at most of them. But if you want to see the best of the best? Watch sprinters, jumpers, throwers in their specialty. MMA is the same way. None of those guys are elite level boxers and wrestlers and jiu jitsu guys etc. Instead they might be elite at one and acceptable at the others. The best boxing, wrestling, jiu jitsu, karate etc is done by specialists.

I prefer watching the very best.

thats true marble, but the sport is getting more world class wrestlers like young Ben Askren, some top Wrestlers and BJJ guys are crossing over but the sport doesnt have top boxers or Judo guys yet just some good ones (judo) other than TOney they dont have 1 legit top boxer

I agree, and when boxing is at it's best, it's better. But things have become so disintegrated and washed-out these days it's sickening. Thus MMA has crept up and is kicking boxing's ass.

Boxing can be the best, but the people that control the game aren't letting it be. The entire infrastructure of the sport is fucked.

but this is what royally pisses me off about boxing sometimes the best dont fight the best and i thinks its crap it needs to be more about the sport and less about the flippin promoters trying to make $

I'm not sure it's even possible to be truly elite at more than one discipline. I mean how good a boxer can one become training that skill one hour a day when boxers are training it 3-4? The MMA guy has to have time and energy to train what? 4-6 distinct disciplines? Isn't it just the nature of MMA to be a jack of all trades master of none?

Yup. The fans are better served by a monopoly that screws over the fighters. It's too bad, but it is true.

I don't want to see a Cotto rematch or see that dirty Mexican asshole get a fight that people will pay any attention too. No-win situation. I'd rather see Manny trash Berto

You could also look at it in terms of the sport of boxing being a micro part of "combat sports".

Just like "basketball". The greats are masters at several disciplines within that sport. Defense, shooting, scoring, rebounding, etc.

The time has almost come where boxing does not have the stranglehold on being the pre-eminent force in 'combat sport". And it's boxing's own damn fault.
