| It might not be signed but im sure jake agrees with the terms and its a done deal or Dana has to announce it himself which will make him look like an ass as always. | |

I have never been a fan of his but I love the company he keeps. I'm a Diaz bros and Chuck fan and he is cool with them all. But as for him, I don't care what happens to him really.

| I'm pretty sure it's Kampmann. He is the only one not doing anything.
Also, Strikeforce are not idiots for letting Shields walk. He headlined two of the biggest failures for Strikeforce and he nearly killed Fedor-Rogers. Granted he is a great fighter but the sport is not to a point yet where being a great fighter earns big money. Right now being a draw does and Shields is no draw...not even the slightest. You don't know how much money he was asking from Strikeforce to come to the conclusion that SF are idiots for letting him walk, they talked turkey with him and they thought he was out of his fuckin mind...he's a WW fighting at MW...he was going to lose that belt sooner rather than later and SF would have been stuck with a fighter who couldent draw a picture, is not their MW champ anymore and WILL NOT fight the champion of his natural weight class making huge money. They learned from signing Hendo that being a great fighter does not always = good value for big money. Letting Shields walk is pretty much a no brainer, thats why it was all but decided before Hendo-Shields..win or lose, they just, like just about everybody else, expected Shields to lose.
SF have champions clause on Overeem, Melendez, Lawal and the ladies to avoid shit like this. Shields(possibly Diaz) was an exception because he was never really under contract to Strikeforce but finishing out a contract that was inherited through the EliteXC purchase. All he did was talk about going to UFC, bore the fans, and kills SF's rating for 1 showtime card and 2 CBS cards. Considering Jake Shields himself won the Strikeforce middleweight title on a randomly generated matchup with Mayhem Miller after winning a catchweight bout i say it's a no deal that SF had to let him walk. In the end, all it does is hurt the Henderson signing.

No! He is a boring fighter, but we...I mean the UFC needs another contender at WW. Shields is a good match up for GSP and I think it would be a huge PPV draw for the home team.

Considering Jake Shields himself won the Strikeforce middleweight title on a randomly generated matchup with Mayhem Miller after winning a catchweight bout i say it's a no deal that SF had to let him walk. In the end, all it does is hurt the Henderson signing. The reason Strikeforce allowing Shields to walk is dumb has nothing to do with his drawing power. Certainly it made it easier to allow him to do it, but what Strikeforce needs and is trying so hard to get is legitimacy. They want to be able to say, "Look, we have many of the best fighters in the world, not just a bunch of UFC leftovers." It's hard to do that with some of the champs they have now. Actually, it's not even the champs themselves, but the narrative of their championships that leave a lot to be desired. When you think of the current UFC championships, you can think of the great narratives involved. There's a real legitimacy to what they've done recently. And it helps by having guys defend for long stretches. That's where the Shields fiasco hurts them. He could have been that guy who made the Strikeforce middleweight division look even better than it already is. It's their best division, but it's hard to sell that to the average fan when they saw Shields win the belt, and suddenly wonder why Jacare is fighting Kennedy for it next time they fight. I can see me explaining it to my girlfriend now: "Mayhem's a middleweight right? So wasn't the middleweight champ the guy with that big fight after he won that Mayhem started?" "Yeah, that's the one." "Well, neither of these are the same guy. What happened to him? I thought we were gonna watch all the fights together, how did I miss him losing? Are you cheating on me?" "No, that guy lost his belt because he left Strikeforce to go to the UFC, not because he lost a fight." "Oh, so these guys didn't even beat him?" "Nope." "Well, that's stupid. Would they have beaten the other guy?" "Who knows?" "Why'd he go to the UFC?" "Because he felt the competition was better there." "So these guys all suck?" That's not the kind of conversation Strikeforce should be wanting casuals to have with knowledgeable MMA fans. It just doesn't help with the legitimacy of Strikeforce. That's what they need if they want to be an elite MMA organization. They need champions who can win and defend lots of times against the best competition they have, so they can say that they have a really legitimate champion. Gil Melendez is working on that with his lightweight campaign. The rest of the divisions need that. Especially the MW division, where they have the most talent. One way they could have begun that champion's narrative they want in the MW division is with the 8 man tourney they talked about, but of course Strikefarce screwed that up. You wouldn't want to be able to say your champ is the man because he won the 2010 Strikeforce Middleweight tourney, now would you? It's just a shame how many times they screw up and there's always someone there to defend them just because they're not the UFC. The loss of Jake Shields wasn't great, but their decision to make Kennedy vs. Jacare a title fight instead of having a tournament is retarded. Strikeforce just keeps losing legitimacy when they do stuff like that. And don't get me started on guys getting title fights that are coming off of losses. God, Strikeforce sucks.

| Chorky your opinion there is so unrealistic, bias, and illogical I don't know where to start with it.
Holding a tournament to crown a champion in any organization is an absolute rarity. Unless Strikeforce didn't bring up the idea themselves no one would be complaining about the title fight they have now. Having the two best middleweights fight for the title after the title was vacated is a standard procedure in MMA promotion. Why are you holding Strikeforce to nonsensical and arbitrary standards? Why are you taking this stance when you should be fully aware that a tournament isn't viable right this moment? Haven't you heard there will be a tournament in a couple of months anyway?
Strikeforce would be suicidal to operate as if their fighters are on the same level as the UFC. That isn't their marketing strategy at all. Being able to rid themselves of the wooden ratings non-starter like Jake Shields by having the UFC sign him brings credibility to Strikeforce by proving they produce top UFC level fighters while simultaniously allowing them to put a champion in place who people actually care about.
No one gives a fuck about Jake Shields. You would criticize Strikeforce no matter what they do. You like others would search for any reason to criticize, and no doubt in paralell universes where Strikeforce retained Shields, the alternate Chorkys are finding reasons to unfairly bash the organization there too.
The conversation "casuals" have with supposed "hardcore" fans Strikeforce needs to worry about looks more like ;
"yo do you watch strikeforce?" "no i only like the ufc strikeforce is fuckin gay assbastards!" "..., weird. ya i donno man ive seen some awesome fights there" "no dude only the UFC rules BROCK LESNAR #1 P4P" "Ya well I know that that Fedor guy would beat Lesnar" "NO he's a farce he hasn't fought anyone for years" "um ok...so do you like TUF?" "ya peeing in fruit is fucking hilarious yager is such a pussy" "oh noooo" "I know!"
