Sitting here after coming back from a boring barbecue, I can't help but think of the year 1977. This was the year of a proposed "4th of July" fight between Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes. Would've been an exciting 4th, don't ya think? Sure, Ali was past his prime, but he definetely would've done much better than he did in 1980.

I think Ali was already damaged goods at that point, but nowhere near the level seen for the 1980 fight.
the documentary on homes vs ali was so sad. Watching a once great fighter who was beyond shot.

Yeah, I know. He brought it back for Leon Spinks for one night and should've retired at that point.
