IMO i think i got screwed in the oscar fight i may have to watch again but that's just my opinion

I was just saying that's one of the fights I remembered, it was arguable for sure, Pernell like got pissed when the scores came out I believe, something. I personally didn't get to see his prime though.

without a doubt he is my most favorite boxer from the modern era

when I was a little kid my grandpa came down and took me to the Whitaker Chavez fight in San Antonio, as I got older and started boxing I couldnt wait for his fights, basically knew he was more than likely going to jump to a 100-90 lead and clown the living shit out of his opponent the last 2 rounds I loved it


their is a saying that we are each given 1 great champion of our lifetimes taht are "our" champion, I am pretty positive he was mine, sad he let cocaine influence him so much

I agree Deezy I had it 7-5 Whitaker with the knockdown, crazy thing was Whitaker was wha 34 and Oscar was 26

Pernell didnt truly lose a fight till the Trinidad fight IMO

ya Pernell was 36 got his jaw broken in the 2nd round and basically after that moment just decided to see how much he could clown without getting KOd

Trinidad won 8-10 rounds any way you cut it but the fact Pernell went that long with a prime Tito (who had been a welter champ since 1994) with a broken jaw just adds to hs legacy

Pick me out a classic fight of his, and I'll check it out over the weekend.

will do LA I will give this some thought but more than likely it will be a Buddy McGirt fight (Buddy was the legit man at welter when Whitaker moved up) and Pernell won easy and toyed with him at the end
