| The division Greenburg is not interested in is heavyweight. Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko are fine champions, he said, but there is a lack of interest in them in the United States, meaning a lack of interest in them from HBO. "I'm really souring on the heavyweights," Greenburg said. "There doesn't seem to be any interest in the U.S. and there doesn't seem to be any heavyweights besides David Haye who would have any juice in challenging the Klitschkos. We're out of the heavyweight division. We're not playing in that sandbox right now. It doesn't make any sense for us. The fights happen over there [in Europe], they're on tape delay. There is just very little interest in this country."Greenburg said HBO won't make an offer for Wladimir's September fight with Alexander Povetkin. "We made a decision [Monday]," Greenburg said. What about doing Vitali's next fight in the fall? "Nope," he said. "The heavyweights have clearly lost their edge in the United States. I think we have enough stars in the lower weight divisions to get us through a down period for heavyweights. I think if we had a strong American heavyweight champion it would do wonders for American boxing, but it's just a dream at this point."Other than a Klitschko against Haye, or one of those three against Tomasz Adamek, Greenburg said he doesn't see any heavyweights HBO is interested in. "Other than that, we'll take a pass," he said. "It would be great if the Klitschkos came over here and reignited some interest in this division. It's tough to continually go over there. I understand their financials. I know how big they are in Germany and they will continue to fight over there. I understand the economics of their business." http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/columns/story?columnist=rafael_dan&id=5347178 |

| Lets be honest will HBO make money off of the HW division right now. Probably not much. They can make way more by showing Shane fight Mora (enter puke sound here). |

| Wasn't Vitali-Arreola their highest viewed fight of last year?
On what basis are they saying there's no demand for the Klits or any Heavys in the US? I'll go out of my way to watch Heavys on Showtime now.
Wlad-Povetkin is a meaningful fight and looks like it could be an exciting fight on paper. Povetkin is a much bigger challenge than either of the Klits recent fights. |

| The Klits don't produce scintillating fights, but they are worthy champions. Yes, they could have a more exciting style.
Question: If they were American fighters what would the opinion of them be in the States??? | |

| they needed to do this having Wlad play patty cake wtih Ibragimov was one of the worst things for the sport in the last 20 years, they tried to hype the fght, make t a bg deal and it fucking bored everyone
people with insomnia where cured for a night
this is the right move, they have to compete with MMA and SHowtime
putting the most boring Heavyweight division ever on isnt the way to go

| I agree Wlad can be more boring than watching paint dry.
But isn't Chad Dawson kind of boring. he fights a safety first box and never risk getting tagged style. Floyd fights a defensive (often boring style). Dawson does so with guys who aren't running away. Same for Floyd.
Do I think Dawson and Floyd are as boring as Wlad? NO WAY!!! But I do believe if Wlad were an American he would get more respect. And it really doesn't help that guys run away from him.

| if wlad and vitali were americans the boxing fans here would have the same opinion..boring but good fighters and semi-robots and by far the best heavyweights of the past 5-6 years..where there from has nothing to do with it..manny pac proves that with a huge fan base here.. | |

| Agreed, Floyd is more fluid.
If Floyd were a European fighter, I seriously doubt he would get alot of respect/good press coverage in the US.

| why do you say that captain..years ago nino benevietti got praise so did cerdan sr dullio loi carlos monzon and many others..floyd also gets his share of bad press here..doesnt adamek have a good following here....why do the europeans namely germany get excited over a extra boring fighters..that should be the question..or why was england excited over brian london richardson ...frank bruno got good respect here...does winky wright get great press here..nope. | |

| I'm just stating that boxing fans in the states and alot of the US boxing media do not give enough respect to the European fighter in general. | |

| captain give me some examples of the european fighters that dont get high praise..lets see joe calzahke from hbo sports writers and many fans was given high praise..kessler got slapped all over the ring by ward folded with joe c and beat fronch is a ok fight..he proved or earned no praise after being somewhat exposed as not head over heals over anyone at 168...abraham for a few years was given by fans and sportswrighters a great chance to beat pavlik when both were middles.and praise..do you think he deserves praise after losing every round to dittrel his foul and the disgusting comments he made after the fight.what praise did he deserve..fronch was losing to taylor who fades and at the last minute pulls a ko..he was given credit but showed a weakness..his attitude after the kessler fight .do you think he deserves praise..hes a winning baby..kahn by many was given great praise on his hand speed boxing abilty in a easy win over paulie...haye was given great credit by all for a impressive win over ruiz by all americans and thought just maybe the K brothers have a threat in haye but then he ducks them both several times..do you think he deserves praise for being yellow and his big mouth...valuez common what praise does he deserve.. thses fighters got a fair honest shake and YES they earned nooo praise...brute not an american is given high praise in spades.ditto pac...prove to me that theses fighters i mentioned were treated unfairly. | |
