UFC on a roll

This marks the fifth straight UFC PPV to sell more than 500,000 buys (111-115) which are detailed below:

111-770,000

112-500,000

113-520,000

114-920,000

115-520,000

Total=3,250,000

And 116 is going to blow all of these out of the water. I'm thinking 1.35.

The 115 numbers will not be that high. They always drop 50-100k from early reports.

Well that is the only # being reported. If you find something else post it. How much time do you need to find a number?

The sucky thing with UFC numbers is they go off of rumors and hersay more than anything else. The 520 report comes from Melzer and according to his article "preliminary and could vary wildly". It will fall.


I do think the UFC has been sugar coating their numbers and if 115 is really reported by the UFC that high, when all other indicators had it significantly lower, the UFC numbers lose credibility for me entirely.


I'll still honor my sig bets though.

What reason do they have to lie about an event that had no titles or big(anymore) names on it?

First off, Dana believes Franklin is a big name rightly or wrongly.


Secondly because many of the events between those that farmer listed and 100 did poorly. There was a perception that PPV buys were declining, and the UFC has to stop at all costs the perception that nontitle fights aren't being ordered anymore, because consumer trends like that are especially contagious and would lead to less and less buys for irrelevant cards.

who wants to bet the number wasnt 500,000??????

112 had two title fights, so that is believable, even if it was overseas and tape delayed.

You're right it could be off. Lets wait a week to see if anything else comes out.

Well, they got everybody back healthy for these last few months..the shows that were doing bad were typically co-main event caliber fights being sold as main events and it showed in the buyrates...like Ortiz-Griffin II,Evans/Silva, Couture/Coleman.

Ortiz-Griffin II is no different than Ortiz Liddell III or Liddell Franklin.

Liddell/Franklin would qualify as wel...i just forgot to mention it and i agree that the buyrate will end up not being so great in the next couple weeks.

I was pretty surprised to see Thiago Silva vs Rashad Evans do so bad. I guess the one sided dominating KO losses to Machida ruined those fighters for that specific matchup.

So this is looking like 500k+?

Not clear yet, only a "really preliminary" number that may "vary wildly".
