| The first round was all Little Nog on the feet. He landed numerous heavy body shots and knees and some good strikes to the head too. Then Brilz gets a takedown down, controls for a while and does a little GnP, then Nog gets up, takes Brilz down, delivers better GnP than Brilz, then back on the feet stuffs any further takedowns and lands better strikes until the round ends.
Nogueria won the first round. He did everything Brilz did and more. Brilz held ground position slightly longer but did less damage on the ground and none on the feet where he took a good dose of power shots to the body.
Brilz won the second round for sure, but it wasn't as dominant as I thought, and Nog pushed the pace the whole round and had his own submission attempts. Brilz landed an awesome combination late in the round.
Third round went to Nog, Brilz began to fade and Nog turned it up and out struck and out grappled Brilz, had the higher level submission attempts, higher level sweeps and again won the standup.
Jason Brilz did not win this fight. He earned a classic moral victory though. Time to quit your job Jason and become a full time fighter. LHW could use another contender.

| I think alot of people were swayed here due to the fact that Brilz took this fight on 3 weeks notice and nobody gave him a chance in hell to win or even make it to the final bell. I think that fact that he held his own the way he did not only opened some eyes but the fact that he was given no chance coming in kind of plays a factor as to why people are tricking themselves into thinking he got fucked over. Personally I had him winning the fight when he took Nog down with 40 seconds left until Minotoro got up and took him down right after that. I think Minotoro literally stole round three away with that last minute surge. | |

| I'll have to rewatch the fight. I didn't see how anyone can think lil Nog won. The crowd didn't, the announcers didn't, Dana didn't, everyone I saw it with didn't....I must rewatch this. | |

Everybody I was with thought Brilz won it. I thought he won it. He was the more effective grappler in the first round.

| The first round was extremely close upon rewatching. Tough call either way | |

| The fight boils down to if the ground control Brilz had during part of the first round negates the strikes landed by Nog. They each scored a single takedown in the round and landed some ground strikes, but Nog landed significant standing strikes where Brilz did not. Nog's sweeps and strikes overall, both standing and on the ground swings the round his way. Brilz just held Nog down for a little bit. | |

| ^Exactly, Nogs strikes outweighed Brilz's takedown | |

which is the way it always should be. Damage outweighs control. (though I have yet to rewatch it, but my intial take was nog took that 1st rnd).

| Anything Brilz does offensively Nog also does in terms of takedowns and GnP, Brilz holds position longer though, but that "octagon control" factor is negated by the stuffed takedown attempts and damage landed on the feet. Nog did more damage than Brilz and had at least as much control.
The second round wasn't a total blowout either, but Brilz did have the sub attempt looking deep and did rock Nog. Best round of his career.
Third round was Nog's easily, which is another factor to consider. In close fights I am more comfortable with awarding the guy winning at the end of the fight the decision.
It was a close but clean victory for Nog, though some of the fans wrongly won't treat it as such. File this under "Tito v Forrest 1" and not "Hamill vs Bisping".
