| When your body says enough? Nothing to do but hang'em up. A glorious career.
It is amazing but Rafael doesn't look quite done does he? 35 is OLD for a bantam. I know that was only a shadow of Izzy in front of him but Raffy can still let his hands go and of course he'll always have his punch.
Vic Darchinian? Is he CRAZY? Rafael takes him out in two rounds.

| I hope Izzy retires, those eyes need cleaned out and rested.
If I am Rafael Marquez, I take Vic Darchinyan's offer for a nice payday then challenge Chris John to avenge his brothers controversial loss. |

| I think Rafa can definitely make some noise , sad to hear about Izzys eye not holding up
sucks when its the eyes that hold fighters back, remember when Raul Marquez couldnt get hit hard without getting cut

| that was hard to watch. Hopefully Izzy takes the big pay cheque from this fight and retires. It's time for Izzy to smell the roses and get fat. | |

| I just watched the fight and Marquez looked great. He really looked sharp and much better than in his tune up. I think he can still give everyone a tough fight and would destroy Darchinyan for sure.
I didn't think Vazquez looked too bad either. I mean hes definitely not what he was going into their last fight but he can still let his hands go and is far from shot imo. He still got off a lot of punches and was landing on Marquez and if the cuts hadn't happened he could have ended up turning the fight around with a big punch.
However it looks as though hes not going to be able to get through a fight with the best guys in the division now without that eye getting cut so despite still being a decent fighter he is going to be severely handicapped. He should retire now only if nothing can be done with his eye imo.
Oh and I thought the fight was great for as long as it lasted once again.

| The fight was essentially over when Izzy's left eye turned into a mess after Marquez opened an inch long cut on Vazquez's left eyelid in the first round. At that point the only way Izzy was going to win was by knocking a "fresh" Marquez out, and that wasn't about to happen.
Vazquez needs to get surgery on his eyes, and then retire from boxing.

| izzy should enjoy retirement for his best is in the past by far..excellent career but its time...in all the years ive watched boxing i cant remember seeing a cut soo long so wide and so deep like izzy had last nite and the other cut may of well joined in that category with another punch or two...his scar tissue looks worse than frankie ryffs from the 50s..it will open up every fight..the reflexes are slower also..enjoy a well earned and respected retirement.. | |

| The first cut that comes to mind when I try to think of one on the level of Izzy's was Tyrell Biggs' cut against David Bey.
There aren't that many that get that nasty.
