| Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal has blasted MMA fans for the fickle views they have for the fighters who step into the cage and lay it on the line month in, month out, saying they don’t know what it takes to be a fighter. Speaking via MMAFighting.com, Lawal said:
“[Expletive] the fans. Most of them are going to love you or hate you regardless, but it doesn’t make a difference. Those are the same fans that thought Lyoto Machida was boring, then he wins two fights and he’s the best in the world, then he loses to ‘Shogun’ and he’s overrated. The fans don’t know.”
“I’m an entertainer. If you ask the average fan they’ll say, ‘Oh, there’s no place for that kind of stuff in our sport.’ Why do you think I get booed so much? Every one of my fights in America, I get booed. I was born outside of Nashville, in Murfreesboro. Then when I went to fight in Nashville I got booed – in my home state!”
“I just want to tell those people, if I was laying and praying I would have never got upkicked, idiots. In order for me to lay-and-pray, I’d have to be on him just holding him and he’d never be able to upkick me. I was posturing up, trying to land punches. I actually punched myself out the first two rounds because I was so anxious to hit him.”
“What it comes down to is, can you sleep at night knowing that you’re not the best? That there’s someone out there better than you? I can’t live with that.”
Lawal also addressed the constant use of the term “world class” something he’s keen to point out isn’t the case in many instances.
“When has Matt Hamill ever wrestled at a world-class level? How can you call a guy world-class if he hasn’t competed against world-class competition?”
The newly crowned champ has a number of challengers lining up to face him, none more so than dangerous Brazilian slugger, Rafael Feijao who knocked out Antwain Britt this past weekend at Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery. Stay tuned to MMABay in the coming weeks to find out who will take on the charismatic champion next.

| King Mo should consider shooting himself.
What he doesn't realize is fans pay his salary.
He said some truth in the first paragraph though. He does "Lay" it on the line.

| Mo's new entrance song should be Hand That Feeds by Nine Inch Nails... I'd like to say that he needs to be careful, but I think it's a bit of a work of genius to try and make himself the Lesnar of Strikeforce... | |

He is already an overrated champion so I can see the Brock comparison for sure.

| Remember when he squirted his sticky rockstar energy drink all over the mat and got fined? This guy is a clown.
Any fighter with 4 pro bouts to pick a fight with a guy like Rampage Jackson is batshit crazy.

I agree he does have a point about alot of fans including myself. I tend to jump the gun and a guy has a bad fight and I jump off the bandwagon. I think alot of fans do it but very few admit it.

| Fans have a right to be fickle, Mo has a right to criticize those fickle fans. Although such criticism may not help his wallet.
But getting booed in your home state is a tough pill to swallow.

| I agree with him. All he is talking about is the fans who throw a fighter out like yesterdays garbage when they lose. His example of Machida is evident.
Machida is boring. He knocks out a couple undefeated fighters and he's unstoppable, he's awesome. He loses to Shogun now he's losing "if they fought" polls to Vitor Belfort.
Hell, i'm suprised he didnt use Mousasi as an example. He even said that after he beat Mousasi all those fans are going to say Mousasi was overrated and give him no credit.
King Mo is the shit. | |

If it wasn't for him admitting to drinking his own pee I would have probably jumped on the Machida wagon lol
