According to reports Sergei looked good.

Junior middleweight titleholder Sergiy Dzinziruk made his U.S. debut a successful one by stopping once-beaten Daniel Dawson in the 10th round of their Showtime-televised main event from Santa Ynez, Calif., on Friday.

Dzinziruk (37-0, 23 knockouts), a 6-foot southpaw from Ukraine, controlled the bout from the first round using primarily his sharp jab and subtle footwork.

Dawson (34-2, 24 KOs), a Southern California-based Australian, simply couldn't get close to Dzinziruk without eating a head-snapping jab.

After nine painfully one-sided rounds referee Jose Cobian did the right thing by stopping the bout at 2:12 of the 10th. It was the sixth defense of the 154-pound belt Dzinziruk won from Daniel Santiago in December of 2005.

Dzinziruk, who hadn't fought since a unanimous decision over Joel Julio in November of 2008, showed no sign of rust. The former amateur standout, who was based and promoted out of Germany for much of the decade, has relocated to Southern California with the ambition of fighting the best 154-pound contenders of the U.S.

I just saw it and he's the real deal. 1st time I've seen him, but he might be the best in the division. Completely textbook (except he's a south paw). Very sturdy, conservative and precise. It's hard to tell how good he actually is because he seemed so calm controlling the fight and dictated a methodical pace.

Spent the 1st 4 rounds beating Dawson 1 handed and controlling him with his jab. Began to use his left and stalk a bit after that, but he stayed completely within himself the whole night. Technically outclassed Dawson and showed no flaws in his game.

The only questions I have are: is he fast enough? strong enough? conditioned enough? etc...if he has to go up against stronger competition.

I like his jab and all, but I don't think he has enough behind it to keep the best guys in the division off him for a whole fight.

I can see Martinez, Williams & Angulo getting inside on him.

I think he can. He wasn't fighting very stiff competition, but considering his long lay off he looked very sharp I thought. Just a beautiful jab. Very crisp and accurate combos.

Hopefully Gary Shaw gets him a good fall fight. It would make sense to match Sergei with Alfredo Angulo since he's his WBO mandatory.

That's what I noticed as well. VERY composed. But he's what 34? Better hurry the heck up.
