All in about a month's time. I wonder if Impact didn't have something to do with that Strikeforce mix up after all. Publicity is publicity.

But how much capital do they have and I wonder what they're paying all these guys? I don't know how long these guys will be around, but considering they have emerged as the first organization trying to be a major player in the newly minted Australian market, they may be in a favorable position.
Update, their first three cards are super-stacked;
July 3rd - Perth:
- Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Jeremy May
- Ricco Rodriguez vs. Brad Morris
- Jeff Monson vs. Jim Yorke
- Paulo Filho vs. John Kolosci
- Paul Daley vs. TBA

July 10th - Brisbane:
- Josh Barnett vs. Geronimo Dos Santos
- Carlos Newton vs. Brian Ebersole
- Karo Parisyan vs. Luis Dutra Jr.
- Jeff Monson vs. Bira Lima
- Paulo Filho vs. Keith Johnson

July 18th - Sydney:
- Ken Shamrock vs. Pedro Rizzo
- Jeff Monson vs. Ricco Rodriguez
- Murilo Bustamante vs. Jesse Taylor
- Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou vs. Joaquim Ferreira
- Paulo Filho vs. Denis Kang
I wonder what they're paying for all this name-value. I wonder if Filho fights in any of these shows. Impact signed three fights hoping he shows for at least 1 maybe?

Guys just wanted to confirm that I haven't signed mark Coleman though he is a good friend, and has been a pioneer in the sport, I was in his corner when he fought in the UFC the first time. As far as how long I'll be around, I've been around for 16 years int he sport so I don't expect to go anywhere anytime soon.

Thanks,
Thomas Huggins

So they signed two guys way past their prime, a roider(with talent but still), a guy who just sucker punched a fighter after his fight and a pill popper

Who else can they really sign. Most names are umbrella'd by UFC or involved in one of the other couple of contract offering orgs. These are names to draw eyes ($$) not declare dominance. With Jeff Monson thrown into the loop it is a decent entry for what it is. Things are real monopolied up in MMA.

I'm guessing Philo might not be invited to this party?

Didn't Monson sign with SF?

Guys,

Let's see if I can answer a few questions. No Jeff Monson is still a free agent, that does not mean that he might not show up in Strikeforce as Scott often allows fighters to sign single fight deals or deals which allow them to still fight outside of Strikeforce.
As far as Mark, I can't comment on that sorry.

In regards to Paulo Filho, I know Paulo very well, he's a great guy and a great fighter, the incident that recently happened with Lombard was actually not his fault, I know this for a fact, he was in great shape and ready to fight and his visa wasn't processed in time so someone dropped the ball (either his management or Bellator). So that shouldn't preclude any event from using Paulo, they should just handle the visas themselves as I do, rather than depending on others if the fighter is important to the card.

Piling it on from the Sasaki no show, Yoon Dong-Sik no show, WEC fallout... Esay to have bad perceptions for Filho.

Actually he wasn't a no show for the Sasaki event, he never signed to fight as he was still owed money from the owner Fernando for his previous fight, but Fernando announced him anyway confident that he could get Paulo to fight.

But the Yong fight was a case of him not showing up to fight, no defense there, it is what it is.
The WEC is also a blemish that has no real arguable position, he had some personal problems but at the end of the day that's not an excuse. As a promoter however we learn that alot of these guys go through rough patches, just like the rest of us.

Thiago needs help in the worst way. He is gonna end up doing something bad. Waste of talent right now. If he gets real help we could see him back in a year maybe? Someone can't be in the right mind frame to do what he has in the past 18 months. I thought he was gonna be a Champion.

Well GDP if it makes you feel any better, Paulo has been looking better the last few months than I have seen him in along time. He is training hard, in good shape, and really focused. More importantly though he has been clean and is a much happier guy, so don't give up on him he may yet make it back to the top.

I want to see him be active against good competition. He is one of those guys that I know has talent but external situations have kept finding ways of blocking him from displaying it.

Yes, I can confirm the Filho vs Kang rumors that will be on the Sydney show, July 17th in the US. Both fighters were very excited about signing for this fight
Both guys have something to prove and this fight is a great opportunity for both.

Actually I like Jerry alot, used to know him pretty well. He's a great guy and his fight against Kevin Jackson was great. Last I heard of Jerry he was a Sheriff. the last time I dealt with him was to book him in the Pentagon show against Murilo Bustamante. Also his win over Fabio Gurgel was a huge upset as far as the MMA world was concerned at the time. Anyway he's a great guy.

I knew Jerry as well, he was a really nice guy, was there when he fought Ferrozzo . The Kevin Jackson win was great, alot of people dont realize what a good fighter Jackson was.

I remember the Bustamante fight very well.

He is a sherriff know, your right real good guy.
