| Just wanted to see what everyone thought about Belcher. Sure beating Cote should put him up there in the current rankings but I just feel like he's overrated. I can name 10 guys in the ufc I'm almost positive would beat him 1.Nate 2.Maia 3.Chael 4.Okami 5.Munoz 6.Dan Miller 7.Wandy 8.CB 9.Grove- who already beat him 10.Ed Herman- who already beat him but was rubbed by foolish judges And I'm not counting the most obvious two- Anderson and Belfort
I maintain that his TD defense is non-existant and any good wrestler can beat him if they take him down. He's a good striker and fun to watch while facing a striker but I can't stand hearing/reading him talk about Anderson like he desverses to get the next title shot.

| Belcher improves every fight, i would give him a chance to beat all those guys you mentioned. He would not be the favorite in all of them but i would not be stunned to see him beat any of those guys. | |

| I've been really impressed with his progress over the last few fights. I'd have to watch again but I was rooting for Sexyama and even I thought Belcher won that fight. I don't like a matchup with Vitor at all for him though which could possibly happen next | |

| I'm just saying I don't think he's a top MW at all. Just like I didn't think Paul Daley is a top WW they are very good strikers but not well rounded enough to be at the top of their divisions. | |

I think Belcher is a beast and is very entertaining to watch. Also I would say he could beat right now at this stage Maia, Munoz, Miller, Wandy, CB, Grove, Ed Herman. Then it isnt a super stretch to me that he could beat them all. Im on the bandwagon and love Belcher and believe he will be the middle weight champion someday.

| I don't see how he could be considered overrated when he's barely considered Top 10 by most people despite being 4-1 (should be 5-0) in his last 5 with 2 sotn's and 2 fotn's. With all due respect, he is close to deserving a title shot, and that's why he's talking about it. Nate and Ed Herman (lol?) being able to possibly beat him doesn't mean shit when they can't win their own fights. | |

| I think he legitimately broke the top ten in the world with his last fight, barely though. MW is real tight from 7 to 13 I think.. | |

Like I said I realize beating Cote puts him up there in the rankings that's how I can consider him overrated - thessy11 wrote:

Yeah Nate could beat him how ever he wanted and Ed would do what he already did to him so...

What part of his game has progressed? He's always been a badass striker with limited sub skills and no wrestling.

| He has a way to go, I don't know it is giant balls, or stupidity, or someone in the camp filling them up so high, but Anderson Silva would destroy this guy in 1 round, if he tries to stand up and try the striking game he would get picked apart. | |

While they are of some baring, rankings aren't entirely about 1v1 matchups, whether theoretical (Nate) or actual (Herman). Forrest Griffin beat the snot out of Shogun. Therefore, because Forrest is on the low end of the Top 10, we should ignore all other accomplishments Shogun may have achieved after that point and rank him outside the Top 10? That's kinda what you're doing here with Belcher and Herman, except Herman didn't even beat Belcher...

| I never said you were basing your opinion solely on the Herman fight either. But given this, what are you basing your opinion on, if not that? It can't be their performances since the time they fought, considering Belcher is 3-1 (the loss being a questionable one to Akiyama) and has finished 3 Top 20 guys while Ed Herman out-wrestled David Loiseau's shell for 3 rounds and got beaten up by Aaron Simpson. | |

How can I not use the current performances of a fighter that has done well to view that fighter as overrated? By that logic no fighter can ever be considered overrated.
