| Keith Hackney was a 5'11, 200 pound Kemp/ Karate practitioner who appeared memorably in UFC 3.
Keith Hackney debuted at UFC 3 against Emmanuel Yarborough, the fattest, excuse me biggest, competitior to ever enter the octagon. According to Sherdog Yarborough is 6'8 and 600 pounds, I doubt thats the weight, but let me put this in english. Yarborough is and was ONE HUGE MOTHER FUCKER. It looks like a midget vs a giant as Hackney and Yarborough are in the cage.
Fight starts, Yarborough stalks Hackney, Hackney is circling and SLAP, open palm strike the shit outta Yarborough, Yarborough keels over like 600 pounds of fatness and Hackney tries to follow up, but Yarborough pushes Hackney and gets back control. He lands some hard elbows, Hackney spins around and stands. Yarborough is on one knee and THE SAME FUCKING SIZE AS HACKNEY. Yarborough gets up, gives Hackney his Patented Push and Hackney goes flying outta the cage door. the fight continues, Hackney goes for his overhand right smack, Yarborough gets a single leg but Hackney fucking tags him, Yarborough goes down, Hackney begins punching the shit outta him. Hackney breaks his hand and after 30 to 40 punches to the back of the head Yarborough taps.
Keith Hackney has the first win of his mixed martial arts career. Emmanuel Yarborough would go 1-2, winning his one fight, by get this, SMOTHER. hahahahhaah
Next up for Hackney was UFC 4. He was facing the legendary Joe Son. Joe Son was the spiritual advisor and manager of Kimo at UFC 3. Not to mention he was and is the only MMA fighter ever to practice the legendary Joe Son Do (this is serious), what Son calls being a mixture of Tae Kwon Do and Judo.
The fight would start with Joe Son trying to take Hackney down from clinches but thats kinda hard to do when you are under 5 feet tall. eventually, Hackney would get the fight to the ground and get a full side mount. From that position Hackney would unload 8 perfectly placed punches to Joe Sons nuts. The crown "Oh's" with every one of them. Hackney then began pushing Son's chin up and Joe Son taps. Son then muffed Hackney and admitted he tapped from the nut shots.
This is ok though cause (some will argue) Keith Hackney could see the future and knew that Joe Son would participate in a gang rape and go to jail for it (true story), so he was punishing Son while he could. Joe Son went 0-4 in his legendary career.
later on that night in the UFC 4 tournament Keith Hackney was facing the one, the only, Royce Gracie. He gave Royce a good fight and gave Royce a tough fight. He was doing well standing with Royce but when Royce pulled guard Royce actually opened up on Hackney with some good strikes from the bottom. 5 minutes into the fight, Royce Gracie got Keith Hackneys arm in a sick armbar and Hackney tapped with Royce refusing to let go. Some say Royce broke Hackneys arm but I dont know.
THis was Keith Hackney's first loss.
at the Ultimate Ultimate 95 Keith Hackney returned and was facing Marco Ruas. Hackney and Ruas start standing and trading leg kicks. after about a minute Ruas goes for a takedown, gets a clinch against the fence, gets Hackneys back, tries to take Hackney fown, Hackney holds the fence, and Ruas starts going for a standing rear naked choke. Ruas pulls back mount, instantly gets both hooks in and flattens Hackney out. Starts landing punches, softens Hackney up and then gets the kneck.
That is Hackneys last fight in his MMA career. He retired with an MMA career of 2-2.
Fighting 2 of the best fighters of the era and 2 of the biggest freakshows of the era. Maybe he can fight Minowa down the road. | |

| I don't doubt he weighed 500-600 pounds, he was the world amateur sumo champion in 1995. | |
