Joel Casamayor vs Joan Guzman set for July 31st

BoxingScene.com was advised by manager Luis DeCubas Jr. that Joel Casamayor will indeed face Joan Guzman on the HBO pay-per-view undercard to the rematch between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz, scheduled to take place on July 31 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The former champions are meeting in a very important crossroads battle, likely to take place at the junior welterweight limit of 140-pounds.

"We are going to take his '0,'" - a confident DeCubas told BoxingScene.com.

The first fight was incredible but neither guy carries a big enough name to make it a PPV.

According to Richard Schaffaer HBO want it on PPV.

The only people who buy boxing PPVs anymore are people who have been fans for a long time. Nobody in my generation gives a shit about boxing

Well obviously guys like us do bird. But what is the % of college aged people more likely to know a mid-level UFC guy than a mid-level boxer? It has to be super high by now

I quit buying boxing ppvs about 2 or 3 years ago because the undercards are just fuckin terrible. U pay for 1 fight and I cant pay 50 bucks for 1 fight. On the topic though I thought Casamayor retired?

IDK I kind of disagree, alot of my friends and college folks I know watch 24-7 and dont know shit about MMA

To be fair on HBO this is probably their first PPV in a while which doesn't involve a big name, and lets not forget Marquez did just do 1 million buys with Floyd, so you can understand their thinking.
