| Not really.
I think Aoki could beat Frankie Edgar but Edgar did what most didnt think was possible in the LW division, he hung with BJ Penn and gave himself a chance to win a BS decision and he did... my rankings are the same as LA. Penn, Edgar, Aoki.
I think with the to be the man you have to beat the man logic and Aoki is not fighting BJ Penn, Frankie Edgar did and has his belt...he atleast #2 until BJ fixes this mess, which he will(emphatically IMO) should he get his due rematch.

| First off I am completely shocked. I thought BJ would toy with him and instead he got schooled (that is just what I have been reading, I had to go to a B-day party with my daughter). That being said my new LW Rankings:
1. Aoki - God that hurt to type 2T. Frankie 2T. Kenflo 4. BJ 5. Alvarez 6. Maynard 7. Sherk 8. Kawajiri 9. Melendez 10. Guida

| because BJ got robbed and is from Hawaii and they NEVER go there. Plus, i think Penn fighting in Hawaii would be a bigger deal fanfare wise than Frankie Edgar fighting in Jersey. I mean, he just shocked the world and there is almost no buzz other than from those who think BJ got robbed(me) | |

| I personally don't think BJ go robbed. I had BJ winning the first two round and Frankie winning the last three. Frankie did alot more damage aswell.
There definitely needs to be a rematch though.

| Edgar has improved more then Gray since that fight, he also was filming MTV True Life leading up to , during and after the event, and got married the day after the fight or 2 days.Gray just got takedowns and LnPed a bit in that fight, Frankie would stay on the outside and box in a rematch. | |

| Thats the thing, i don't think Edgar can be considered that far ahead of the pack like BJ. I think he can easily lose to guys like Kenny and Gray. Also, on the outside somebody like Aoki or potentially Gilbert depending on the 17th.
Obviously i can be proven wrong there and with Penn likely to get a rematch it will be awhile before we find out by seeing Edgar fight Kflo and Gray but thats take and also why tonight was a total shock and perhaps an aberration, in addition to it being the wrong decision in my ever humble opinion.
Considering Edgar really only won this fight because he controlled the pace and BJ rolled with it probably thinking he was winning the exchanges, i'm not ready to put Edgar on a pedestal in the LW division.
Any given saturday i guess.

| I'm not as high on Melendez as others, think he's a lesser version of Diego to be honest
That said, I think he has a chance to beat Aoki who is also a bit overrated.

| Without trying to sound like a homer, really, how do you say BJ is the more advanced fighter now? He puts up in one area, while declining on another. Kenny, always comes in prepared, even when he loses. The Kenflo that fought Sherk is not the same Kenflo who fights now and ti say otherwise is crazy. | |

There definitely needs to be a rematch though. I agree, I think saying he got robbed is crazy. It was a close fight no doubt, but if you really think it was a clear cut win for Penn then I really don't get it. Like I said before nothing really clear cut about that fight.
