| http://www.mmamania.com/2010/3/16/1375424/jake-shields-might-sigh-with-ufc"I’m a fighter who takes it one opponent at a time and my next fight is in Strikeforce against (Dan) Henderson. When you talk about guys like Anderson Silva and St.-Pierre, the best in the world, obviously I fight want to fight them. I want to be the best in the world and to be the best you have to beat the best. GSP’s a complete fighter standing and on the ground. But that’s why I want to fight him, that’s the challenge. I want to test my skills and see what happens. Now I’m focused on Dan Henderson for this fight and after that my contract with Strikeforce ends. I’ll talk with Strikeforce and the UFC to find out which one I will work for." | |

| GSP would murder Jake Shields 3 times before Jake even hit the floor once. The last thing Jake wants to do is stand up with GSP...actually quite funny to think about even | |

The last thing Jake wants to do is stand up with GSP...actually quite funny to think about even I think Jake would get beat by probably the top 5 WW in the UFC. But if by some miracle he beats Hendo I will shut my mouth. If he somehow pulls that off then he is a must have for the UFC. I'll be screaming Shields to UFC if that happens....but I don't expect that to happen.

| I think after Jake gets beat by Hendo the ufc should pick him up. But I don't think he would get as far as a title shot | |

Start him off nice and slow with a Condit rematch. See where he goes from there.

| Why rematch Condit?
Give him Swick, Hughes, or Rumble. You now something we haven't already seen.

There are other good fights but I thought that one sounded good for his 1st fight. Swick is coming off back to back loses right now, Rumble will probably still fight Howard after his injury, who knows how Hughes will do vs Renzo and after that I just don't see him fighting Jake for his 1st fight.

| GSP needs fresh challenges now. After he beats Hardy, what next? Shields would be just as deserving as anyone at this point. | |

I disagree, you have to give Shields atleast 1 fight first. Unless he somehow beats Hendo, then give Jake whoever the hell he wants.

I think if Fitch beats Alves he should be next. I'm not against rematches unlike alot of mma fans these days. WEC GM said recenty that he doesn't like doing rematches unless something happens in a fight that would make him believe that the outcome could be deferent in a rematch. But I disagree with that. GSP left no reason to believe that Fitch could beat him but isn't it possible for a fighter to progress in ablility past thier first title shot? We sure are lead to believe Kenny Florian did. And even if it's not possible for Fitch to have improved enough to beat GSP if no other WW can beat him doesn't he deserve to get his ass kicked again for the title?

What if GSP never got a second crack at Hughes?... What if Hughes never got a second crack at BJ?... What if Liddell never got a second crack at Couture?... What if Timmeh never got a second crack at Alrovski?... Alright, that one's irrelevant but there are probably dozens we could point to. I think Fitch (As dull as his wins have been) deserves a shot if he takes down Alves again. And Shields should have to beat at least one UFC top-5 to get a shot... More than likely though, Dana will give him an instant shot as he did Hendo or give him a scrub as he did Anderson, Nog and Rampage.

| I think Shields is a interesting match up for GSP. I mean lately all GSP does is take people down and GnP. I think GSP would keep the fight standing and KO him if he is smart or just grease his back in order to break out of any grip while on the ground lol. | |

probably option A, Sheilds would get owned by GSP on the feet.

| The only reason Hendo got an instant shot was to unify the titles. | |

| Man that sure makes it sound like Shields is looking past Henderson. Not to mention possibly burning his bridge with SF.
I may have argued that Shields deserves p4p recognition, but I'd never argue that that guy has drawing power.

Then you could argue that Shields getting the immediate shot is to unify his titles, if he gets past Dan. I think Fitch, if he gets past Alves, should be the next contender. He has deserved it.

| Not really, UFC didn't buy Strikeforce. They bought Pride. | |

I think Fitch, if he gets past Alves, should be the next contender. He has deserved it. Eh not really, not unless UFC bout out Strikeforce. If you unify the Sheilds title(which by the way is at MW not WW) then you are really acknowledging Strikeforce Champ as equal to UFC Champ. So not only is Shields not a title holder at WW, but the UFC won't give Strikeforce that kind of love.

| Even worse, what if Shields were to win? UFC can't keep him exclusively because he just unified the titles. | |

Well really, Sheilds would give up whatever title he had when he left. So he wouldn't have any title to give. Plus like I said he holds the MW title, his buddy Nick holds Strikeforce's WW title. So he can't give GSP a belt he won't have and he can't give GSP a MW belt for a WW fight.
