Kampmann vs Paulo Thiago in works for UFC 115

If Thiago wins this he's got to be in line for a title shot soon.

Kampmann could also use this to get back into the top contenders, but I'd take Paulo easily.

that is a step up from Ben Saunders

Thiago by asskick. Kampmann is hot garbage.

I don't really think this fight makes much sense, maybe Thiago just wants to fight ASAP.

What doesn't make sense? Hardy are ahead of Thiago and maybe Kos & Fitch too when it comes to getting a title shot, but Paulo still needs a big fights. This makes perfect sense to me.

Well Kos was beat by Thiago. Thiago lost a tough fight to Fitch and just chocked out Swick who was suppose to fight Kampmann last year. So 2 very nice wins in his last 3 fights. I just think Thiago is higher on the list then Kampmann.

I agree he is, but there is someone higher than the other in every fight.

Basically for Thiago to fight someone on his level or higher he needs a title fight or one vs Fitch(already booked/already happened), Kos(already booked/already happened), Alves(already booked), & Hardy(already booked).

Another interesting opponent would be Daley, but he's already booked.

why not thiago vs serra? aren't they trying to put a april 17th card together to counter strikeforce?

Yeah I think it would put the winner in a very nice spot. You already havd Kos vs Daley and Alves vs Fitch. Thiago vs Serra would just be another part of the mini tourny. Healthiest, most impressive winners to the front of the line. Still good fights there for the losers.

Kind of a step down for Thiago but maybe they are thinking Swick was a bit overrated as well.

Kampmann was in title discussions and is top ten. I don't think Thiago has been around enough or won enough in the year or so he has been in the UFC to get choosey treatment with top 10-15 opponents, even if I think Kampmann is over rated and a very hittable striker.

Yeah, and he was as deserving of being in title discussions as Mike Swick(and probably Dan Hardy as well)...which is not that deserving at all as i would rather watch GSP fight Fitch, Kos and Alves on repeat before wasting a 4 months training camp on jobbers...not to mention the split decision win over Condit was a rip off.

He aint in my top 10. I did pick him to beat Swick though when they were originally slated to fight. Thiago via decision or submission.

i really like thiago, he looks most complete out of the contenders. a win here and i wouldnt be surprised if they gave him a tittle shot

Paulo Thiago is quickly becoming one of my newest favorite fighters, he has legit skills and a crazy real day job, the guy is a badass.Kampmann has a tendency to leave himself open at times, I think PT will end up catching him with one of those winging, but accurate punches.

He doesn't disappoint as of late. He likes to bring the action. I've got s good feeling about this fight. Kampmann isn't a guy known for being in fights that go the distance and Thiago likes action. Will be looking forward to this.
