| I remember when the Vitor Belfort came out to fight Randy Couture one of the 3 main things highlighted on the screen teling about Belfort was
"No Known Weaknesses"
9 minutes later and shit was different
It was so pathetic i remember at one point Randy mauls Vitor to the ground and the announcer go's Oh Vitor wants to go to the ground this is where he wants to be, 10 seconds later the ref is pulling Randy off Vitor

| Vitor Belfort was probably the first top fighter truly exposed by someone in the UFC. Kind of like Miguel Torres of today. At least in some ways, not all, and donno if Miguel will be fighting for a title in 10 years.
And certainly not one two weight classes smaller!

| One could argue Coleman was exposed before Belfort, but either way you cut it, Belfort was a hyped mother fucker who didnt live up to the initial hype old UFC had for him. I remember after he ran through Tra and Tank Abbott everyone thought he couldnt be beat.
Not only was he beaten, he was dominated from start to finish

Lol. I think the PRIDE vs UFC thing is my fault. Just couldn't keep my inner PRIDE homer under wraps I guess.

| bored and doing some browsing, I came accross this thread by Wolfy from about a year ago. Subject "MMA myths that most fans believe" http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/mb?sport=moresports&id=mma&tid=4399704&lid=371. Dana saved MMA. No, he was opposed to both Spike and had nothing to do with regulation and sanctioning. MMA has enough merits to have survived without him. 2. Pre-modern MMA wasn't sport, it was specticle. This is beyond stupid. Back then the sport was less evolved as people fought with "pure" styles but it was still essentially the same concept, abiet with some rough edges regarding the rules. 3. There has never been a good MMA video game. Really? Both UFC Tapout and Throwdown were great and loaded with legends and good fighters and the Pride game was every bit as good but included a pimp create a fighter. Great gameplay. 4. Boxing is dying. In America MMA is the new trendy rage, but boxing still gets plenty of press, has plenty of diehard and grassroots fans and gyms, and is currently enjoying a surge. Fights like Diaz - Marquez will ensure it's survival. Beyond that the sport is world wide so declining PPV numbers thanks to Don King can't kill it and won't kill it. 5. Randy Couture is overrated and was never that good. Shut the hell up. His career spans all three major MMA eras and thus some of his losses result from wrestler vs BJJ growing pains, but the man has over 75% title fights in his career. Winning the title five times and defending it numerous others. 6. Tito Ortiz isn't good/is totally washed up/was never good. I've explained this a lot lately. The only people who believe this have liked MMA less than three years seriously anyway and are unable to extrapolate reasonable data from what they read. 7. Brock Lesnar has the best wrestling in MMA. Lots of UFC fighters are division1 champions, many multiple times. And all of them began MMA training much sooner after their college careers. 8. Machida isn't marketable. He's a ninja. posted March 12, 2009 | |

No, the title just stuck out. Pretty much the same as this thread. Just thought bringing up a thread from a year ago was interesting. It was a slow day yesterday.
