| I think he should just come out now and commit to playing next season. I have a very hard time believing he's gonna hang up his cleats after having arguably the best regular season of his career. I would put money on him coming back next year. Instead of waiting around forever just tell them now that he'll be back in the 3rd week of preseason. I doubt the Vikings would have a problem with that. Brett Farve doesn't need to play in the preseason anyway. | |

| You know what... I was thinking about this a little earlier when I heard a couple of employees talking about where Peyton and Favre rank as all time greats. We know that Favre cemented his spot as a HOFer a hell of a long time ago. Manning continues to add to his legend and is easily a HOFer as well.
But prior to Sunday's game, I was willing to add Favre into that top-3 category with Montana and Elway on my list. I think I have to edit that after Sunday's outcome and really thinking about his career. One thing that is important to me as far as lists like this go is being "clutch". I don't care about # of rings since it's a team game (A criteria that helps sure, but not the first or second most important thing to consider by any stretch). A QB cannot control a corner back going for the ball instead of the stop and being burned for an 80 yard TD romp to lose the big one. Rings are completely overrated to me in this category. No one is going to tell me that Terry Bradshaw was a better QB than Dan Marino was. It's just ignorant.
Anyway, if you are on a TEAM capable of reaching and or winning the big game, yet you are the reason for their inability to cash in by throwing picks or just doing stupid shit in crunch time... You aren't clutch when it matters. Hell, in hindsight the Packers won Super Bowl 31 even though Favre struggled to throw for 50% while being outshined by a freaking punt returner. If not for Bledsoe showing Favre the proper way to become an INT specialist in the future during that game, the Packers don't likely ride Favre's arm to a win... And we have seen his act in the playoffs over the years.
I think at this point I struggle to make an argument for him in the top-5 since I think Manning, Brady and Unitas are all above him on my list as well... Can we argue Marino, Young, Tark, Fouts and Aikman as being ahead of him also? I mean hell, Kurt Warner is more clutch, played much less time, has a ring and has similar if not better per year numbers but has played on worse teams historically. If I try hard enough, I might be able to fall in line with that goof from ESPN that has been riding Favre for years and talk him right out of the top-20... But I'm not going to get too ridiculous with it.
It's just really hard to get it out of your head the way he has exited the playoffs recently... He is the antithesis of being clutch when it really matters...
How's that for a freaking book, Regret?

How's that for a freaking book, Regret? Farve isnt anywhere near top 3 and I didnt have to watch sunday to know it either. Montana and Elway like u said are ahead. Peyton and Brady are on there way and I would take Marino also. Farve is top 10 but no where near top 3 at all.

How's that for a freaking book, Regret? Longevity is a factor also and Farve is the Ironman of football. He's definitely not top 5 but I would have to think he's at least top 10 by sheer numbers alone. He definitely seems to pull a munson at the worst possible time way to often. His yes men will blame it on his gunslinger mentality but I don't buy it. You have to take care of the ball. Sure, Brett is a bit of a gunslinger but he still needs to take care of the football. This season he did a great job of that but yet again as LTFG pointed out, he makes a big mistake at a critical point in the game.

| Tim and Bigs, when dropping him in the conversation as a top-3, I wasn't giving too much detailed thought. More or less just thinking numbers as he holds all meaningful records for QB's, has a ring and 3 MVP's. Basically, what Manning will be in five years if he doesn't win another ring or MVP (Yes I know he has 4). But aftere thinking out his glaring inadequacies, I have seen the light... | |

| John Elway is the most overrated QB of all time behind Namath and probably Aikman. IMO obviously | |

| Damn Elway overrated???? Tough to say dude he has 2 rings and maybe the best arm of all time. He put up great numbers year after year with no running game to speak of. Finally when they did get him a back that could help the offense he won rings. I know u said ur opion but in my opion very tough to call him overrated. | |

| LOL... Anyone, and I mean anyone who calls Elway overrated has a personal bias. No way you could watch that guy play and think he wasn't phenomenal. And obviously, looking at the age of Mr. Bobbitt, I'm not sure he could appreciate the level of play from #7 since he started his career 7 years before Bobbitt was born and retired when Bobbit was 8. I'm sorry but I can't discuss athletes intelligently with people who made an opinion of said athlete when their balls hadn't even dropped yet... | |

After 9 years in the league Elway had one more TD than INT, he averaged less than 20 TD passes a season for his career and he didn't win a Super Bowl until he had an awesome defense and the best fucking running back in the league behind him. The 2nd Super Bowl they won was in a year where Davis ran for over 2000 yards and was clearly the MVP of his own team. There are a shitload of QBs who could've won on that team. Elway should thank the Cleveland Browns for letting him into the SB 3 times early in his career and in the last 2 of them he was 24-64 for 365 yards, 1 TD and 5 INTs both of which ended with his team getting the shit beat out of them. If Davis doesn't come along those two seasons Elway's name isn't even close to being mentioned as one of the top 3 greatest QBs ever nor should it be. Your opinion is definitely right though since you're an old man so it probably isn't worth discussing. I have zero biases towards Elway that doesn't change the fact that his name was mentioned as one of the 3 best of all time which therefore makes him incredibly overrated

| Bobbitt the teams elway was on that made it the Superbowl werent as good as the teams that beat them. If he was supposed to win and didnt u can bust his balls but he had no business being there anyways with the talent he had on those teams. Showed how good he was to get them there. | |

| In two of them yes. The 49ers and Giants were both definitely better than Denver and proved that by demolishing them but the Broncos were 3 point favorites going into SB XXII against Washington and lost by 32. Bottom line they lost 3 Super Bowls by 96 points. I don't care if the other teams were better or not, that's absolutely horrible | |
