| For culinary school at the start of next year once I hopefully get some money saved up.
This culinary school will be expensive as fuck, but seeing as how I cant do firefighting or be a cop...this was my third choice of a career back in high school, so im hoping it will be worth it.

| A cop, a firefighter or a chef?... I don't think I'm going out on a limb suggesting that one of those doesn't belong, Regret. I mean why not a carpenter, welder or hair dresser? I kid... Seriously, though... Good luck in that cesspool... | |

| Well LTFG, not that your logic can always wrap around that some people have broad possibilities on what they might like to do and dont isolate themselves to one possible outcome...
I WANTED to do those first two things because I love helping people...BUT I CANT do them on account of I "COULD BE A LIABILITY" because apparently my heart MIGHT not be able to hack it in the future.
So after the doc gave me that shitty news, I thought...hmmm what else have i enjoyed doing?...COOKING. Ever since I was a kid i thought it'd be cool to open up my own restaurant someday and always enjoyed cooking.
Thats why that was my 3rd choice out of high school.
Sorry if my post seems a little harsh or like a dick lol just kinda venting still and your post kinda let me do so =]
And not to mention i've done construction big boy...didnt enjoy it, and i dont want to be an arthritic cripple by the time im 40
And what do you mean by good luck in that cesspool?

| Man always doing something Regret, but it's mad hard to get a good job as a Chef, sure you can get a job, but a good job will be tough, and it's even harder to open ur own successful restaurant, but good luck to ya.
What about college? | |

| Yeah, I gotta find something.
Yeah I already know all the risks that go along with this industry, but its also a growing one even with the economy.
I dont know anything else that I would like to do in all honesty. I dont want to do anything with healthcare even if it is the most secure industry. I dont want to be some damn electrical engineer or mechanical engineer or any of that bullshit because it just does not interest me in the least.
Honestly, i had all my plans on joining the military and doing firefighting but I cant do that and got DQ'd from all branches of the military because of a stupid heart murmur which really threw a damn wrench in my plans.
Still not sure on what im going to do, but this is probably the most likely outcome.

| It's all good... By definition a cesspool is a sewage pit or a filthy and morally corrupt place. In my visits to some of the east cities, most apply. Pittsburgh isn't as high on the list as say Detroit, but lets just say that filth was complimentary when I last visited the Berg.
Regret, I don't know your situation... But dude, you're 19. I get the pressure if you're out on your own and have bills or family to tend to. But if you have any leway to take a moment and breathe while you look for a direction, relax a bit and enjoy the ride. If you don't have that luxury then I completely understand the sense of urgency. Go and get it if it's what you want, but enjoy the journey if you can... Hell, enjoy the journey even if you don't think you can...

| Hahaha thanks bud. Yeah I wish i had the luxury but I am moved out. Currently not paying bills cuz I dont have any money. Luckily my buddy TGO from this board, his gf, and another buddy of mine are paying for me to live here with them at the moment. I used to pay my own bills but its not possible at the moment.
I always heard Pittsburgh was a pretty decent city.
Yeah...cant be any worse than Akron, Cleveland, Detroit, Youngstown, Toledo, Columbus, Cincy or any of the major cities around where I live lol

| thats cool man you gotta do something that you enjoy if you have the chance. If you want to cook then go for it man. People are always gonna tell you what you cant do so i say fuck everyone else and prove them wrong and do what you want to do.
I've been thinkin bout joining the volunteer fire depratement where im currently living. You get to train for free and once you are all certified and pass all the classes you can then go to the city and get a paying fire fighter job.

| How are you going to call me a dumbass? How was I not to infer that you might be implying that I shoudl go down there out of your post?
Maybe next time SAY WHAT YOU MEAN in your post instead of writing a vague statement that could be misconstrued.
Its actually ALOT more expensive up here, as is almost all educational systems in this region of the country.
