| Best of this current era.
Peyton, Tom, Drew, Aaron....then it falls off to a pickem. I'll go Kurt Warner. I'll include him in this era.

I'd label them 1a-1e. If that helps. How about alphabetical? By height? Age?

| No way in hell is Tom Brady the 2nd best QB of all time. Rings aren't everything. Dan Marino was every bit as good as Tom or better. I'd say Montana is 1, Elways probably 2 and Marino 3. I personally think Petyon is better then Tom as well. | |

Team game, they don't tell the whole story. Big Ben and Eli both have 2 and they can't swing off Dan Mario's jock. Rings tell part of the story but there are plenty more factors. I mean Trent Dilfer isn't equal to Peyton just because they both have 1 ring. Petyon Manning is the best of this era IMO.

| You have to have at least 1 ring to be in the top 3. |

In any stat not achieved purely as a result of having thrown the ball more times, Dan Marino is inferior to Ben Roethlisberger. Eli is an average QB who was carried by his team to two super bowl. Big Ben not so much. By no means am I saying Big Ben is a superior QB to Dan Marino, but I don't think there's anything wrong with considering rings if a good QB was a part of it. Marino in the Top 5 would be a longevity ranking - an above average QB who managed to stay healthy for a long time and who played on a team that never had a running back - nothing wrong with that approach, but there's so much to consider when ranking a position like QB. With quantity over quality (again, not saying Marino was bad quality, but if he's top 5 it's based primarily on longevity, not efficiency) based numbers, what would a guy like Marino's career numbers look like if he had Walter Payton or Barry Sanders behind him for a few years instead of Mark Higgs? Or even an average RB?

| it's also worth remembering that teams were allowed to play defense when the likes of marino, montana and elway were playing, whereas the NFL has been constantly moving the goalposts make life easier for for your bradys and mannings.
brady fumbles away an AFC championship game and not only does he get a bad call to preserve the win, the NFL brings in a subjective rule to allow the officials to cheat in favour of certain QB's whenever a QB fumbles in similar circumstances. brady gets hit and blows out a knee, the NFL decides you can't hit QB's anymore.

| In no particular order:
Joe Montana Steve Young Brett Favre Fran Tarkenton Peyton Manning Bart Starr Tom Brady Dan Marino
It's hard to narrow it down to just five guys to be honest. You have Montana and Brady and Peyton pretty much all day, but there are about fifteen other quarterbacks worth mentioning in this discussion like Starr, Marino, Tarkenton, and Favre. You also have guys like Sammy Baugh and Johnny Unitis and Joe Namath who could easily fit into any list.

| Imagine if Marino played today at a time when defenses have been absolutely crippled from playing the way they did in Dan's time. When Dan played it was a lot more difficult to be a QB then it is today. | |

It's like how Jordan would be even better playing today than in his days. |

It's like how Jordan would be even better playing today than in his days. That's the idea. For Marino to put up the numbers he did in the 80's was something when you consider the game QBs are able to produce thier numbers from today.

If rings mean so much where is Troy Aikman? 3x SB Champion and 1 time SB MVP. It's a team game. Aikman had some amazing players he played with on both offense and defense. How many rings do you think Marino would have had on those teams? Aikman isn't even a top 20 all time QB.
