UFC 163 to feature Jhenny Andrade as newest Brazilian octagon girl

RIO DE JANEIRO – Twenty-five-year-old Sao Paulo native Jhenny Andrade is the newest addition to the UFC's roster of octagon girls.

UFC officials on Friday announced the full-time model will serve alongside Camila Oliveira at Saturday night's "UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie" event, which takes place at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena.

"It will be great to be a part of this team and to contribute to the brand's success," Andrade said through an interpreter. "I'm going to embrace this and do my best for the UFC.

"UFC events are very well organized and glamorous events. People really appreciate and praise the fighters, and I also believe the octagon girls look very pretty up there. I've always liked the UFC, and that's why I immediately said yes to my agency and really wanted to make it work.

Andrade has previously done some television work in Brazil and briefly studied journalism before electing to focus on her modeling career. She lists UFC 163 headliner Jose Aldo as her favorite UFC fighter.

He seems very nice and personable – very down to Earth," Andrade said. "He was also the first fighter I ever saw in action, and he fights with so much passion."

It had been a little while since a higher profile fight was ripped apart by the judges. Still a problem in MMA, judges. The argument of "Finish the fight fight and take it out of the judges hands" is bullshit. If that is how it really is then take away the time limit and eliminate decisions. It's not easy to finish a high level fighter. Something needs to change though.
