UFC bans Pretorian

Brazilian MMA super-brand Pretorian has been banned from the Octagon.

MMA managers were sent a memo from the UFC at the weekend telling them that the brand and its associated logos are no longer permitted to be worn inside the Octagon or during any of a fighter’s official UFC undertakings.

No reasons for the sudden ban was given in the memo. The move is a surprising one as Pretorian has until now forged fairly deep links with the UFC, featuring on the Octagon canvas and corner posts as well as on numerous fighters.

Most of its sponsored fighters are Brazilian but the likes of Roy Nelson will also be hurt by the ban, which comes into effect immediately.

I've seen a lot of guys wearing those shirts, wallets are about to get lighter.

Wouldn't that be an issue between the fighters, their management and Pretorian?

Not sure how it all works but someone asked him about the ban on his live chat and he said a lot of media were hearing they weren't paying the fighters. I'd imagine the management would try to deal with it but maybe if enough people were having problems and it got back to the UFC this would be their way to take care of it? Don't know

Just doesn't seem right to me. Never seen any complaints from the fighters and they have alot of big name guys wearing their brand. Doesn't seem like it would be the UFC's place to step in.

Those guys must have been spending a shitload of money. With all the fighters they sponser, paying the UFC tax, and then also paying UFC for canvas space..wouldnt surprise me if they were coming up short paying somebody..be it the fighters or the UFC.

If they did short a fighter(s), I doubt Zuffa cares.

Well, their whole explanation for the large sponser tax is to weed out deadbeat sponsers who don't pay fighters. Though i've always felt it was just them wetting their beak. They probably wrote a bad check to the UFC.
