| this is a silly question, but i was wondering how much surfing helps him develop a center of gravity, where it's impossible to take him down in MMA? | |

| It absolutely helps. When I was wrestling (A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away) our coach took us all out surfing throughout the off season. We won and took 2nd in state two years in a row, then he got canned for reasons unknown. Be that as it may, we had great balance on our feet or on one foot, which made it difficult to take us down. I learned the art off hopping on one foot during a single leg pick-up and would purposely hop out of bounds so my opponent would not get points for a take down and we would restart at the middle. I did okay and went 4-0 when I wrestled, but there was another guy in my weight class who was just great. I wouldn't have wrestled in tourneys t all if he hadn't gotten into academic trouble. | |
