He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. So says wiki. But they were calling him Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires before.

i think they picked him because a lot of latino's have been leaving the church lately because of all the allegations.

I caught a brielf glimpse of the news and apparently it's not meant as a complement, not sure why. I do know that he's a humble guy who turned down his local church housing for a simple flat.

He came second in the voting last time round.

Now that looks like something that represents the loving spirit of jesus....
