| I'm an east coaster, NJ specifically, so my powder days are few, and far between. In the past, when I was lucky enough to find powder, I just brought my bindings back as far as I could, and had at it.
But I've been chasing storms more in recent years, have a trip to Montana on the horizon, and am looking to buy land in VT. So I'm in the market for a true powder board.
I have my eyes set on the Saloman powder snake. good reviews and a reasonable price. But wonder about the sizing. Real good deals around for a 156. But at 170 lb's size 11 boot, I'm thinking it's a bit small, though I am cheap, so I'm trying to rationalize getting it anyway. Will probably be in some tight glades, so that is one argument in the favor of my cheapness. Is that enough? Or do I need to face facts and go big?
I know u ride out west GDP, so I'm counting on u here, but if anyone else has a suggestion, I'm all ears.

| Salomon's are quality I've heard, or Lib tech. You thought of a fishcut or oval rocket if your gonna be in long stretches of powder? | |

Not too interested in a fish, want to maintain the option off fakey. Oval's look interesting, Lib Tech I believe, but one's I saw were a bit pricey.

| Powder board is specifically designed to snowboard in un-groomed, unpacked fresh snow, which can be real fun to snowboard in. | |

Oh, eff that! I went one time and this is all I have to say about snowboarding... 1. Snow hurts when snowboarding if you don't know how to stop. 2. That rope thing that pulls you up the hill is evil. It hurts too when you don't know wtf you're doing. (jacked my shoulder up the 1 time I went snowboarding) 3. Big waste of money! 80 bucks to get the shit kicked out of me. I was on my back more than a Ben Askren opponent. 4. Snowboarding sucks! 5. I suck at snowboarding! 6. Fuck skate boards too!

I really do when it comes to skateboards and snowboarding. I was told it was really funny when I grabbed that rope and it tossed my ass a couple of feet onto my shoulder. My buddies told me that I was gonna go down "the bunny slopes" and when I was going around a corner pretty fast I saw a mountain and was heading for some tree's. I couldn't get the board sideways to stop so I did what any man would do...tuck and roll. I bet I flipped about 5-6 times on that white concrete fake snow. I was more of a bmx guy growing up.

My first couple goes, I got the shit kicked out of me as well. Typical NJ icy conditions. Got pretty good over time. I've tried surfing on numerous occasions and I'm awful. Snowboarding is really expensive though, there are ways to ride much cheaper then your standard ticket price, but it's expensive even then, so I blame no one for not dedicating themselves to it.

Yeah, that's what I thought, the 156 is prob not worth the deal.

| Issue now.
I've deduced I have a supination problem. I wear out the soles of my shoes fastest on the outside of the heel and outside of the rest of the foot. Old injury or scoliosis makes me not have a regular gait I guess. Being on the board all day puts me in that position pressuring the pronation for an extended duration. I went up yesterday and my forward ankle is hurting. Sore and there is like this weird little ball of tissue like a little muscle or something about three or four inches above my ankle bone on the outside of my ankle.
Ever had that issue?
I think I need to bring my forward binding back a little and maybe make their angles symmetrical. I also looking for a orthotic boot liner that is available in size 15.

| I also wear out the outside heal of my shoes as well, though I never really have foot problems when riding. Couple buddies I have are always fighting them.
I ride slightly outward stance, just a couple degrees off center. And when not in powder I like to be dab center in the middle of the board.

| And I just landed a sweet deal on a board. Ride Slackcountry 164. http://ridesnowboards.com/snowboards/slackcountry-ul-1213 Got it for $299. which is $100 less then the-house and just about any other site(pretty sure it's last years model too, msrp is $599), and $100 less the the snow snake which was where I was heading. Ride has it listed as a straight powder board, which is all that I want it for. Might get some snow here Friday, though board won't be in by then. Also picked up a Ride georgetown jacket http://ridesnowboards.com/product/georgetown-jacket-1213?category=jacketsfor $90, which is $60 less then the next best price. Pretty excited about this. Now I did spend $400 bucks, so Im not that bad, but my cheapness did lead me to buying an XL coat, when I'm really a large, and not spending $20 on overnight shipping(maybe could have used the deck on Fri, but storm is looking iffy). The ying to my yang. | |

True, however, truly hot chicks tend to be straight posers. Dope new gear, sitting on top the bunny hill. At least in the NYC metro area.
