Josh was getting paid very well in Strikeforce. While he probably didnt except the same from UFC, maybe it was too out of the ball park of what he's used to making...and he is a popular wrestler in Japan. I don't know how much Inoki pays though.

The issue isn't how money. Barnett was offered a fair high figured contract. The problem is Barnett wants to do wrestling in Japan...Zuffa would never allow that.
