| Both have a shot, but will they do it? - Quote :
- Peterson is chasing Erick Dickerson’s single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards. He has 1,812 yards with two games remaining. While that may seem like a large gap with only two games remaining, he has averaged 192 yards over his past three games.
Johnson is chasing Jerry Rice’s record for receiving yards in a season of 1,885. He has 1,667. It would appear that the 218 yards he needs for the record is within reach. Last week, he tied the record for consecutive 100-yard games in row at seven.

| I think Calvin gets the record but AD comes up short but still over 2K. | |

Lions have no shot at the playoffs. Stafford might throw 15 INTs before they get the record but I bet they keep running the deep route until they get that record.

| And the other team will know that. I'm sure the corner and coach don't want to be the guy that allow that. | |

He is too tall and too talented. Throw enough jump balls and he will come down with his share. It's going to be hard to deny him.

| looking at the atlanta/detroit box score, it looks like the lions were more bothered about getting johnson his record than making a serious effort to win the game. he was targetted 16 times, which equates to almost a 3rd of the lions offensive plays. perhaps detroit wouldn't be 4-11 if they had any variation of any description in their offense? without checking i'll bet jerry rice scored at least 3 times as many touchdowns and the 49ers won at least 3 times as many games in '95.
i'm not convinced the single season NFL record is worth what it used to be. you have favre sitting down and waiting for strahan to turn up so he could get the sack record and brees only beat the passing yards record by throwing on teams all season with 20 point leads late in the 4th quarter.

Marino was doing much of the same.
The Lions losing is more on the Defense than the offense. Johnson has been lighting it up this past month or so but it seems like they are always trying to play catch up because they are down on the scoreboard and have to throw the ball, much like last night. the previous post might have sounded more like a moan than intended hahaha. seriously though, the irony is that if the lions weren't such a poor team, johnson has no shot at 2000 yards receiving. we saw last year that team has a lot of talent, but nobody else is contributing.
