Medical suspension, I'm sure it won't take that long.
http://www.mmajunkie.com/news/2012/12/ufc-on-fx-6-medical-suspensions-palhares-mendes-beltran-out-six-monthsSeven fighters from this past weekend's UFC on FX 6 event received medical suspensions of up to six months.
MMAjunkie.com (
www.mmajunkie.com) recently requested and received the list of suspensions from UFC Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner.
UFC on FX 6 took place Dec. 15 at Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It aired Dec. 14 in the U.S. (on FX, FUEL TV and Facebook) due to the time difference.
When no regulatory body is available, Ratner, the former head of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, oversees the process for many international shows.
UFC on FX 6, which also served as the finale of "The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes," saw Ross Pearson knock out fellow "TUF" head coach George Sotiropoulos in the headliner. Robert Whittaker and Norman Parke also were crowned "TUF: Smashes" champions.
All UFC on FX 6 fighters were issued mandatory 21-day suspensions. However, additional suspensions included:
Robert Whittaker: suspended six months due to a right-hand injury, though a doctor can clear him early
Rousimar Palhares: suspended six months due to a right-foot injury, though an orthopedic doctor can clear him early
Chad Mendes: suspended six months due to a left-foot injury, though a doctor can clear him early
Joe Beltran: suspended six months due to a right-hand injury, though a doctor can clear him early
Mike Pierce: suspended six months due to facial injuries, though a maxillofacial surgeon can clear him early; regardless, suspended for 30 days for precautionary reasons
Brendan Loughnane: suspended six months due to a left-foot injury, though a doctor can clear him early
Mike Wilkinson: suspended six months due to a jaw injury, though a doctor can clear him early
