With WSOF 1 upset of Miguel Torres, Marlon Moraes meets Tyson Nam at WSOF 2

With Saturday's successful World Series of Fighting debut show, the organization has its first fight for its second offering.

As expected, with an upset win over former WEC champ Miguel Torres, Marlon Moraes (9-4-1) now will meet fellow bantamweight Tyson Nam (12-4) at WSOF 2.

WSOF 2 is likely to take place in late January in Las Vegas, though a date and venue haven't been finalized.

WSOF 1 took place Saturday at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Moraes' split-decision win over Torres was part of the NBC Sports Network-televised main card. WFOS President Ray Sefo hopes the broadcast deal continues beyond Saturday's trial run with WSOF 1.

Despite settling for a split decision, Moraes was largely in control of the bout. He out-struck Torres, landed cleaner punches, mixed in stinging low kicks and even showed some flash with spinning back kicks. Although he had Torres rocked, he couldn't finish the vet.

With the victory (which came via 30-27, 28-29 and 29-28 scores), the Florida-based Moraes now has a three-fight win streak.

He now fights Nam, who was expected to fight Torres at WSOF 1 before a brief contract dispute with Bellator ultimately scrapped the bout. But now free from any Bellator ties, Nam makes his WSOF debut off an August upset of Bellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas at Shooto Brazil 33 in August. The big victory pushed the Oregonian fighter's current win streak to four.

Currently, no other fights have been announced for WSOF 2, though company president Ray Sefo recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) he's a possibility for the card.

Nam upsetting Dantes with the big KO and Moreas upsetting Torres last night sets their fight up perfectly. I like the matchmaking, two very interesting prospects with big new wis under their belt going at it, it should be fireworks.

Wouldnt be surprised if Moraes won. He fought well over 3 rounds against Torres while Nam really just caught an overly agressive Dantas who clearly thought he was at an earth day party to smash cans.

I wonder if they will put any more of the winners from the 1st card on this 2nd card? They could put Burkman on the main card this time. Sponge vs Yvel sounds like a great matchup for the main card as well. Maybe they can get Rumble on the card as well. Since SF doesn't have many LHW matches to make maybe we can get something like Rumble vs Mike Kyle.
